I love this site and use it all year long to find great deals and share deals with others. The Black Friday forum is one of the most trustworthy and reliable sites out there. The helpful information and tips that the members post is great and there is always at least a dozen people with great ideas when you post a question. It's a must have for your shopping needs!

Where do you get coupons for Black Friday???
Ads, on line sites, sent in the mail leading up to the big day.
-
Divide and Conquer....When multiple stores open at the same time, divide them up, share list, and settle on the money later. That way you only have one at each store waiting in those long lines, and a better chance of getting the doorbusters you are looking for!

I'm not sure I would call these "Major" retailers, but it is a start to the swing back to BF starting on Friday.
A few confirmed stores to not open on Thanksgiving.

Not sure how they got confirmation, but found this listing on a news site that has been pretty reliable in the past. They are claiming these to be confirmed openings:

I don't think it would feel right only doing the on-line shopping. I do make some purchases on Wednesday and Thursday On-line, but it would NOT feel right not to go out.
It's not just the in store only deals, its the tradition, spending time with my mom and friend, eating, talking, making memories, and the ever fun THRILL OF THE HUNT!

Wow. I never thought of a binder. I just keep my list of what I'm getting for everyone in a spiral notebook. I constantly use spiral notebooks for every kind of list you can imagine as well as other things like recipes and bill due dates. For Black Friday I usually just have the ad where I circle or star things and add post-its from my lists as needed for titles of games or movies. I saw others messages and I agree: you HAVE to have the ad so you can make sure the item is the correct item and that you get it at the correct price. Always be prepared.
Happy Black Friday season everyone!
Yes, ads are good, but if you print out the ads ahead of time when they are leaked, you can print them out and circle items in it as you find it.

We can start a separate for on line when we get those times confirmed.

For several years (thanks to an idea on this site) I have put together my BF binder with print outs of the leaked ads. I carry this everywhere I go and many people look at it, even though they pick on me! I also use plastic organizers for all of my coupons.
I am debating on putting it all on my tablet this year. It does save on paper, but not sure it will feel the same.
Has anyone else gone paperless????

Best Buy has the same type of thing, but other sites have rumors of 6pm start time.

Once we get the official letter from Walmart, we know the ads are near......

The news had a story last night about the mall opening at 6pm on Thanksgiving.
"The general manager of Bay Park Square tells tenants the mall will open at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 27, and stay open for seven hours.
The mall will close at 1 a.m. and open again at 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. for more Black Friday shopping."
I find it odd that they will close at 1am and open in the morning again.
It would be terrible for a mall to close and then re-open. We have to travel almost and hour to get to the shopping areas for BF. We use the mall as our warm safe haven when we are waiting for the next batch of stores to open. I would not drive back home and then back out again. Hope our area malls do not do this.

My co-worker's son works for Staples, they are being told they are opening at 6pm on Thanksgiving. Actual work schedule not out yet, but they are being told to prepare for that. They will stay open all night and all day Friday.

We were resting/waiting in line, at a local mall for a give away last year at 3 am. (Had already been shopping for many hours and had a two hour wait). Most of us were sitting on our coats talking, comparing bargains, and eating. My mom being real tired was having a hard time sitting on the floor. I went over near us and got a chair. About the time I finally fell asleep leaning on my mom's chair that she had been sleeping in for a good half hour, some mall cop came up, made a loud scene, and took the chair away!
Of course it did not stop there, he made two more trips wreaking havoc down the line as others had the same idea and took the chair to sit in. Yes, the big tough guy guy was able to steal that unused, unharmed, chair back from three different older people who were taking a rest before spending their money at the mall that employs him.
Still don't know if we are going back there this year!!!
On a funnier note, we were leaving Kohls a few years ago and in a hurry. A fist fight broke out near our vehicle that my mother thought she was going to watch. I quickly yelled "get in we got bargains to get" and we drove away. She still laughs that we drove away.

We still sit in the living room with the ads.....(some we did not get a sneak peak at), but we already have a large list started. The kids and spouses go through the ads and let us know if they see anything. Then, while the kids are playing or watching a movie in the other room, and the men are napping, we make our game plan of what opens when, where we need to go, and who is getting dropped off where so we can divide and conquer

1. I know when the doors open, all these people in their cars will get behind us in line.
2. This guy deserves an applause, he camped out five days and only wanted the videos.
3. I shouldn't have stayed home and ate that second helping, now I missed the doorbusters.

Lowes has it's annual countdown up.
They also have a text option to get sneak peeks of this year's deals.
"Text LEAK to 656937 and exclusive sneak peeks of the year’s best deals will be coming
your way soon. Message and data rates may apply. Text HELP to 656937 for help."- 3

Do you think stores should offer good coupons for you to come out and shop?

My Birthday is in November so I save up my Birthday month coupons to use that day. I usually save at least $50.00 with them. I also google coupons and such leading up to BF and bring them along. Last year I counted at least $120 in coupon savings, on top of great BF deals.
