  1. So here's where BF taking place 6 days later comes into play. Last year, Kohl's released their ad late Wednesday night and Target released theirs Thursday morning of this coming week (10/31 and 11/1 last year).

But last year that was ~3 weeks before BF. So the question is, do they release their ads this coming week because it's the same week as last year or do they wait a week since BF is later and we don't get them until the 6th/7th of November?

Personally, I think they are worried about the shorter period between Thanksgiving and Christmas this year, so they'll release their ads earlier and try to increase sales in the weeks before BF to try and make up for it.

So my prediction is that this coming week will be the week we get some bigger ads. They might want to avoid Halloween and so like last year, Kohl's might release it late at night on the 31st (this Thursday night) and Target could follow Friday morning (November 1st). November 1st seems like a good date to start their sales and both Kohl's and Target put some of their BF deals online the same day their ads are released. I think Walmart and Best Buy will again hold off until at least the following week.

I think or hope with Kohls having their one day Pre Black Friday sale this Friday, 11/1, we will at least get a glimpse!! Plus they are doing $15 kohls cash for every $50 spent.

  3. I noticed in the toy book Brad posted on the site that it said toys weren't eligible for coupons, and that most of the toys said +extra 15% off beside them, so I guess it's a current promo. I also noticed when I was getting some toys last week, but just figured it was that particular brand. I didn't realize it was all toys forever. Interesting. Thanks for pointing it out. Hopefully they will have some comparable promos and deals for holiday shopping. If not, I either wont buy as many toys (which is probably a good thing!), or I will save those to spend my kohls cash on after Thanksgiving. I always end up with a lot, and nothing to spend it on since I bought everything I wanted during Thanksgiving sale.

Husband just had a good point. With TRU gone, they could have more of the market, and toys must not have too high markup or TRU might have been doing better. Also, with TRU gone, that's probably the reason they brought on Legos. Lego needed more places to sell to.

With Sears and Kmart stores closing.....Toys have few places to be sold at.

  4. Hoping from some sort of deal on the new Apple watch for hubby. Hoping Kohl's pulls through on that. Also an odd request, but I'm hoping someone has a good deal on area rugs...looking for a new 8x10 or 9x12 area rug for my living room. Never really shopped for rugs on BF before...

Sometimes Lowe’s has rugs for a deal.

  5. 1. If I stand here in my camo pants and hide behind the flyer no one will see me and realize I cut the line.

    2. If we smile and send love messages to the mob of customers outside in the cold they won’t yell at us when they don’t get their door buster.

    3. Excuse me (girl in long sleeve tie dye) can someone please hand me a pair of socks from over there behind the mob?

  6. With Kmart Sears and Toys R Us closing stores, I am a little worried that with less competition, we won't find as good of deals this year.  Even JC Penney closed 8 stores this year.

I know the circle of life for retail usually brings in new ones, we just are not seeing them in the Northeast.  Remember the days of Ames, Bradley's, Calador, Jamesway, Woolworth, Montgomery Wards (ok, I'm showing my age).
