  1. don't know how to get pic loaded but my walmart has signs up all over....no event items can go on layway

Call 1-800-WALMART. Layaway will open at 8AM your local time and event merchandise (toys and electronics) is supposed to be eligible. This is posted on the company's corporate intranet.

  2. It depends on the demand in your area and the quantities your store received. I am thinking of buying one of these for my niece but my lunch probably won't happen until 11pm tonight. I think our store has around 40. If I were you, I'd call the store and ask how many they have and how many people (if any) are in line. Good luck!!!
  3. We were told today at my store that items requiring a "voucher" were 1 per customer. If the customer is a baby, and the parents wants them to have a voucher, they get one. No questions asked. So if your family needs multiple tv's, laptops, etc... bring the kids and babies. Keep in mind, this is at the store I work at. Your store may have different rules.
  4. In our store meeting today I asked about Layaway for the 10pm and midnight doorbusters. I was told that if customers wanted to put the 10pm and midnight blitz items in their cart and wait for the 8AM layaway opening, that was OK. Be aware this is what the store I work at is doing so check with your local store. I know I wouldn't want to wait 10 hours but some people may not care.
  5. I would think that if you wanted to place something on layaway that's normally locked up, such as an XBox, you would be given a ticket or voucher to use when you come in to put the item on layaway at 8AM. At my store we are having a meeting tomorrow on BF plans (Q lines, etc). I will check and see how my store is going to do this and post. Remember, your store may do things different.
  6. I got the ad in the mail yesterday. At the bottom of the first page it states, no items from this ad can be put on layaway.

The ad was printed BEFORE the decision was made to open Layaway BF @ 8AM local time.

  7. Probably not but it can't hurt to ask the store manager in the town where you will be shopping. I work at WM in a small town. Our nearest "big box" competition is 30 miles away but we match them (Target, Best Buy). WM really wants the sales this year. Be sure you talk to the store manager because they are the person that has the final approval in the store. Also, get the name of the person you talk to. Good luck!!! I hope they let you match the price!!!!
  8. Thankfully, in the United States we have a choice where we work. Those who are discouraged because they have to work a holiday should seriously consider changing careers. Anyone who is not in the retail industry and thinks sales such as this on holidays are wrong should seriously consider not shopping on holidays. We have choices in the good ol' USA!!!!
  9. I think it is going to depend on the store. I asked in my store today and they told me that BF items would not be eligible. I really wish they would allow us to put it on layaway bc it would save me atrip to Kmart (an hour away)..

If you spoke to THE store manager call 1-800-WAL-MART. Company direction (for ALL stores in the U.S.) is that BF items WILL be eligible for layaway when layaway opens at 8AM BF morning. If anyone else is being told no, call the Home Office, tell them to communicate to the local manager that they are misinformed. Unfortunately, there are some "rogue" managers in the company. Trust me. You WILL get results.

  10. I feel sorry for our layaway associates (and the customers) It will be a LOOOONG slow moving line. Thank GOD I get off work hours before 8AM. I love the 10 PM start time personally. So does a majority of associates at my store.
  11. I work for Walmart and layaway WILL be open. The decision was made yesterday. As I posted earlier, the opening is 8AM BF local time. If you want to put something on layaway that goes on sale at 10PM Thursday or 12 midnight Friday you will have to "babysit" it in your cart until 8AM. If you call your local store and you're told layaway will NOT be open ask the associate to check the updated FAQ section about layaway which is ONLY accessible to associates.
  12. Sounds like your local store manager is uneducated. The store I work at hasn't been told about this change. Best advice I can give you is if you call a store, ask for the store manager. Not the department manager, zone manager or assistant manager. Better yet, go in and talk to the manager person to person. If their info turns out to be false on BF hold them to their statements.
