  1. The store I work at had no copies of Brave with other BF movies. However, the copies on the shelf in the electronics department were ringing up $8.96. Ask someone to check the price. Don't assume because there's NOT a colored sticker on the box it's not going to ring up the sale price.
  2. Most Supercenters are open 24/7 with the exception of blue laws, and Christmas eve from 6pm-December 26th 6AM. Since I work there I have to be there Thanksgiving night. I enjoy watching people act crazy. If I didn't work there I'd be visiting with my family. I'd NEVER brave the crowds shopping at Walmart on BF. No way.
  3. I am curious how long have you worked and what state? That is good money in Oklahoma.

17+ years, Tennessee. In my area it would be impossible to make this much money, even at a factory. As long as we work our scheduled day before the holiday, the holiday if scheduled, and the scheduled day after the holiday, we get holiday pay.

  4. I guarantee that if NO ONE shopped on Thanksgiving NO retailer would open. If you don't like the hours, DON'T SHOP on Thanksgiving. Last I looked, slavery was outlawed. If you don't like where you work, QUIT. What benefits do I get at Walmart? 40K/yr salary (I am NOT salaried), 4 weeks PAID vacation, PAID sick time, PAID personal time, insurance that costs under $35/month. Don't believe ALL the union propaganda. Oh yeah, I also get a 10% discount year round. During the middle of Novermber-January 1st we get 10% off groceries. If we work from 7pm-7am Thanksgiving/BF we get 1 transaction in December (6th or 7th) at 20% off.
  5. I ALWAYS take in competitor ads when I work Black Friday. One reason is for ME. I price match. The other reason is for my customers. One year I saved a lady lots of $$ because almost every video game and movie she purchased was on sale at another retailer unbeknownst to her. I really like saving people money. At my store we have NEVER taken anything off the shelp because it was cheaper at another retailer. I can't speak for the entire Walmart company as a whole.
  6. If your layaway items are the exact same things on sale BF if you pay off the layaway that day the prices should automatically adjust. You may have to cancel the layaway and put it all back on, but I'm not sure. The best advice is to go into the store and talk to the store MANAGER. He or she should be able to make the decision that is best for you, as a customer, to keep you happy.
  7. I've noticed that Walmart tends to have the same things on sale year after year. For instance, the sheets. For the past few years they have had 500 count sheets on sale for $20.00. The only difference this year is that they are 700 count. Same thing with the towels and washcloths, the Rubbermaid sets, the PJ's, the Wrangler jeans for $9.50. They've been on sale on BF at WM for the past several years, all for about the same price. I know because I've bought them! See, I pretty much know what the basic stuff is that they'll have even before the ad leaks! lol!

After working BF at WM for several years it's always a given that we'll have a TV, mini appliances, towels, sheets, etc.. It amazes me how fights break out over the towels and mini appliances. The towels are not of the highest quality. The mini appliances usually start getting returned 2-3 months later. Hope everyone has a safe BF/Black Thursday!!!!!

  8. I think I read somewhere that Wal-Mart will price match any other Black Friday price? Target is going to have a Simple Touch Nook for $49. I know many Wal-Marts carry this Nook. If I wanted to pick one up on BF, would they price match the Target ad? I've never price matched anything in my life, so I'm totally clueless.

The Walmart I work at is in a rural part of the south. Although Target, TRU, and BB are 30 miles away we will match competitor prices on BF. Remember, the item(s) MUST be the EXACT model #, etc... If an item comes with a gift card at a competitor, you wouldn't get a GC, just the price of the item, hence, PRICE MATCH. No percent off either. The ad MUST show a price. Unbelievably, some people can't comprehend the item they are wanting to match must be THE EXACT SAME ITEM.

  9. I want to buy some of the video games and movies but since I work for Walmart during the sale hours they are usually gone when I can get off the clock. No biggie. I have plenty already. Looks like I will be working 6pm-3am Thanksgiving day. Gives me time to go home, take a nap and go shopping at other stores. I like the new hours because my family eats early on Thanksgiving.
  10. I saw a commercial that if you use walmart credit card you can get 18 months with 0% interest on electronic purchase of $429. Any one know if that is total purchase or per item amount. Im hoping to get a $300 tv and ipad. Both under $429 but together would be above that amount.

There's going to be an even better WM CC promotion soon. (before BF).

  11. As a shopper, I love your attitude and wish you were at my Walmart.

On that day anyone that works retail MUST have a positive attitude. I laugh a lot and I also do EVERYTHING I can to help people. I love to shop so if someone has a problem or concern I put myself in their place. If customers ask for something or have a request I am not authorized to take care of on my own, I get a member of management. After all. I know who's paying me. YOU!!!

  12. I agree 100%, it'll drag in the curious...goobers, for lack of a better word, that'll just get IN THE EXPERIENCED shopper's way, *sigh, but it is America, so...

I love the hours. Since I work there I get to see all kinds of people act silly. Getting paid to be entertained.

  13. Unions are a wonderful thing. My dad was a union carpenter. He retired with a full pension,. We had full medical growing up, eyecare, dental, etc. with no worried. Pay was good, he retired making around 25.00 an hour. He got my husband in the union when we got married 28years ago. We have annuities on top of the retirement benefits in the tens of thousands that will pay out when my husband retires in 4 years at age 56. Pay is now at 31.00 an hour. My husband works all year, the union is a wonderful thing.

Yeah. Unions are wonderful. Ask anyone at GM or Chrysler. LOL.

  14. It's easy to understand that decision. Most people would probably rather do business with Amazon than Walmart. Absent a discount, why would anyone get in a car and deal with a Walmart when they could click a link at Amazon and have the product delivered to their home? For an impulse buy, most people would probable go to Best Buy or Staples where sales associates and presentation are a notch higher (technically anyway).

No knock on Walmart -- I shop there regularly -- but there are things I just don't associate with Walmart.

I have four Fires. I bought three at Staples and one at Walmart. The one I bought at Walmart was advertised with a $50 gift card. When I got to the store (the Sunday the sale started), the store did not have a current flyer, there were no Fires on display, and the sales associate did not know if 1) they had fires, and 2) there was a sale. I waited patiently for the associate to work things out, but only because I was going to get a $50 gift card for my troubles.

One thing about buying at Walmart if you buy something and it tears up months later, just take it back and act like a baby and threaten to call home office. They will take it back. Trust me. After working there numerous years I have witnessed holiday items being returned after being purchased several years earlier.
