1. Walmart 2. Both days 3. 6pm on Thanksgiving
-
I enjoy being able to look back at past ads and get a feel what to expect for discounts on bf.
-
My wife and I go together. She is a trooper to go along with all of the electronics purchase. Then I will get up early Friday and hit Home Depot and get her and my son later for another store or two.
-
Mine is be there early. I start my shopping at the local Walmart and I make sure I get there 3 hours before the sale and I pretty much get what I want.

Interesting from their website: We’ll match the price if you buy a qualifying item at Target or CityTarget stores then find the identical item for less in the following week’s Target weekly ad or within seven days at Target.com, Amazon.com, Walmart.com, BestBuy.com, ToysRUs.com, BabiesRUs.com or in a competitor’s local printed ad. Price match may be requested prior to your purchase. Simply bring in proof of the current lower price, your original receipt and we’ll match the price at the Guest Service Desk

I prefer the 6pm and 8pm openings over the midnight openings that occurred the past couple of years. Also, their seemed to be more doorbusters available that in the past.
-
We were at Best Buy at 8:15 and it was not nearly as crowded as last year at 1:15am. They were on the intercom begging people to buy the $99 Kindles. I am afraid that Best Buy may go the way of Circuit City with the competition from Wal Mart/Amazon/Sams/Cosco/Target.
-
My dad and I got one and both of ours are working fine.
-
Wal Mart was crazy, but we went to Best Buy around 8:15 and they still had a ton of stuff left and way less people than in the past.
-
I agree. Even Sears has put up a better effort with their early Friends and Family sale.
-
Last year they unwrapped everything at 6:30 (before the 8pm) sale and it worked much better than 2011 when there were scuffles for everything in our supercenter.

First true Black Friday shopping in Oklahoma starts Friday

While all other retailer ads were the same as the national ads in Ok, the Wal Mart ad was different for Tulsa residents - our prices were higher than the national ad. I know because I emailed and complained that no one was following the law, so why was Wal-Mart. -
I sent an email to Walmart about the price differences in OK and they said they don't have any information on the prices but that they were subject to change. I checked the K-Mart add on their website for the Tulsa Stores as well as the Best Buy ads for OK and they matched exactly to what is posted. So I bet Walmart will switch to the lower prices or they will be severely undercut by competitors in regards to electronics.

No, there is something wrong. Right now we have a Best Buy add that is running a 32 inch LED Insignia for $219 (Regular $229.99). The Walmart add shows a 32 LCD Emerson for $210. An LCD BF price is not $20 cheaper than an LED regular price. I suspect as tmcws found above that this is the retail price.

There is something wrong with our OK prices. The 32 inch Emerson is showing $210. I checked the 2010 Walmart BF ad that I saved to my computer and the Emerson 32 inch was $198!

Shootings, pepper-spray attack mar Wal-Mart Black Friday sales

I agree that the earlier sale contributed to the problems. A lot more people showed up at ours than last year. -
I'm a Price Matching rookie and I have a question...

Wal Mart PM the TRU add that was buy one, get one for $5 for the video games. Got some great deals on TRU videos by PM at Walmart and saved the trip there. -
Agree with previous posts. Wal Mart was much worse this year. Got there at 7:30 and parked at the games. At 945 the chaos began and there was pushing and shoving and police were called in. Much more crowded. IT was safe last year when people opened up the pallets earlier. At least you didn't get killed. We went to another WM later at 2 and found many of the TVs and Blue Ray player left over. Even snagged some items that my family failed to get at the 12 o'clock sale. Also, went to BB and found they had plenty of doorbuster printers and monitors and we got the ones we wanted. Went to several stores and got home at 4:15 for a 4 hour nap and got back from Kohls. We pretty much got what we wanted, but Wal Mart experience seems worse and worse each year.

Police and security was called to ours as it was a mad rush. They either need to implement a ticket system or offer more than 15 copies.

I went in at 2am to PA the Razor tricycle and the Mr. Coffee Coffee Maker that I bought the week earlier. The CSR first said no and I handed her a copy of the policy from the website and ask her where does it excludes Black Friday. She asked her manager and he said if the register allowed it, to do it. It worked and we saved about $50 with the adjustment.

As an alternative, Gamestop has a refurbised one with a one year replacement warranty for $79.99 in their newly released BF ad. You can pick up a refurb controller (which appears to have the same warranty) for $14.99. For $85 you get a Wii that will play Gamecube games for sure, 2 remotes plus $15 to apply to games (see their used game sale) and you won't have to fight the crowds.
-
With the one year replacement on the used Wii for $79.99 and another controller for $14.99, this makes a pretty good deal especially in consideration to the $99 deal at Wal-Mart (since this will play Gamecube games).
-
Compared to last year, this is disappointing. Perhaps they will add some items closer to BF?
-
I too liked the new system. My 70 year old parents were able to wait in line for TVs overnight. They couldnt and wouldnt do that outside.

I agree that Best Buy hasn't been trying to pull in customers and it has hurt their sales. I strongly disagree, though, that they don't view Wal-Mart as a competitor. Wal-Mart has greatly increased their electroncis departments as now they sell ebooks along with TV, and computers. Target is now agressively selling more electronics, Amazon is a growing threat as well as Apple with its own retail locations. Wal Mart to me had a much better Black Friday ad and that is why I shopped there instead of Best Buy last year. With Wal Mart, you also have a chance to buy their products without camping out a week ahead. See the analysts comments below from a recent Bloomberg article. While their stock rose because they beat the analysts projects, profits and sales were down for 1st quarter 2011 due to the increased competition (including Wal-Mart). Best Buy Co., the world’s largest consumer electronics retailer, reported first-quarter profit that exceeded analysts’ forecasts, helped by rising demand for smartphones. Net income fell 12 percent to $136 million, or 35 cents a share, in the quarter ended May 28, the Richfield, Minnesota- based company said today in a statement. Analysts predicted 33 cents, the average estimate in a Bloomberg survey. The shares climbed the most in nine months. Increasing demand for mobile phones and tablets countered declining revenue from televisions. As competition intensified from Amazon.com Inc. and Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT), Chief Executive Officer Brian Dunn began reorganizing stores and retraining employees last year to push sales of gadgets that work together. “There’s substantial strength there,” David Schick, an analyst at Stifel Nicholas & Co. in Baltimore, said today in a telephone interview. He recommends buying the shares. “All of last year the business got worse than it had in the prior quarter, and it’s showing reversal of that.” Best Buy rose $1.31, or 4.6 percent, to $30.13 at 4 p.m. in New York Stock Exchange composite trading, the biggest percentage gain since Sept. 14, 2010. The shares have declined 12 percent this year. Domestic Sales Sales by stores open at least 14 months fell 1.7 percent, including a drop of 2.4 percent in the U.S. Analysts projected a domestic decline of 4 percent, the median of five estimates by International Strategy & Investment Group, Janney Capital Markets, Caris & Co., Deutsche Bank Securities Inc. and RBC Capital Markets. Revenue increased 1.4 percent to $10.9 billion. Analysts estimated $10.7 billion. As part of the stores’ reorganization, floor walkers were retrained to show shoppers how gadgets work together -- a concept Dunn calls the “connected store.” The connected store represented a midcourse correction for Dunn, whose previous strategy involved loading up stores with exclusive products, including an electric bike. Best Buy has since lost customers to Apple Inc., Amazon.com, Wal-Mart Stores and Costco Wholesale Corp., according to analysts. U.S. connection revenue, which comes from mobile phone contracts and wireless broadband for phones, rose 20 percent in the first quarter. Best Buy reiterated its full-year projection for earnings per share of $3.30 to $3.55, excluding restructuring costs. Analysts predicted $3.47. The retailer earned $3.43 last year. Net income was $155 million, or 36 cents a share, in the year-earlier quarter.
