  1. I tried to buy the leapster 2. In the search, it shows for $25, but when I put it in my cart, it lists for $39.99?
  2. 90% off in Greensboro, NC. Folks from a local charity were clearing the shelves of everything that would fit in a shoebox (Operation Christmas Child) but nicely, giving people shopping for one or two of an item plenty of room. Not crowded at all. Spent $32 including tax and got two Christmas trees, one 7 1/2 foot and one of the fiber optic minis. Lots of bells, ornaments, wrap, window clings. . .
  3. Yes, I would agree totally if it were for us. I have two Marathons in the backseat right now :) But this is for my mom's car. She lives in another state (FL) and we fly down several times and spend a total of about 25 to 30 days a year there--4-5 long weekends and one week in the spring. I don't want to haul our car seats down there every time we go. It's me and two preschoolers on the plane and even checked they would be a total pain. The girls have to be safe--it's Florida with all the crazy drivers there .
  4. I picked up some at the grocery store and they worked great (green color, no ziplock). I found though, that I can only reuse them a few times and then they need to go. I also found that if you put the lettuce, then carefully shove the bag all the way to the very back of the fridge and quickly obscure it from view--you can make a pretty bag of brown mush with several identifiable leaves still in it after several months!
  5. I had no idea I could love a dishwasher. Bought the consumer reports recommended model last year (a Sears Kenmore brand) and went for the more high end model. Before, I'd always shopped in the total budget range. The new one is amazing. It is soooo quiet. I can put the knife straight from the peanut butter jar into the dishwasher and it comes out clean. No rinsing! The shelves are adjustable and I do adjust them often, depending on what is in there. We eat/cook at home so we run the machine every day and twice on some days.
  6. Hey all--I just got back from a visit with my mom, and her carseats are old (she got them for my nieces, who are school-aged now). I just found out that they "expire" after 6 years Video here: and I want to get two new ones before we go there again (we visit several times a year). Any ideas? Recommendations? My girls are 3 1/2 and weigh in the 20's so they'll be in a 5 point harness for quite a while. At home, we use Britax, but I can't afford two of those right now. Thanks! Sarah
  7. I just lurk and don't post much, but thought I'd add this one since I see a couple of other triad NC people. This might help someone who missed today's sale too. My daughter is sick, and I was a good mom and didn't drag her out into the cold/rain to Target even though I knew today would be the day. I went to the New Garden Target when DH came home and it looked like a hurricane had been through--everything was pretty much gone, what there was was a mess, and I was soooo disappointed. Then I decided to take my time and go through all the aisles and look for things that might have been put down/misplaced/changed mind, etc. Found all kinds of stuff that way. Also, the employees were tidying the area and bringing in toys that had been found in places all over the store. We are on a budget and I did not need more toys for my kids, but for all the birthday parties we have to go to--I need 6 gifts just for January!! If I had been able to go earlier, I am sure I would have spent too much on some of the cool stuff that I know they would have loved, but we're fine without it! Really, we are. . . A woman in the store had just come from the Lawndale store and she said there was nothing there. There were several thrones that people are talking about on a high shelf above the camping stuff. I also got: Kitchen toys, remote controlled dinos, a Thomas engine washing station, a bilingual laptop, blocks, Spiderman toys, and a Dora phone that connects to the TV that looks fun. They also finally had the word whammer in, so I got to use the rain check I've been carrying around forever.
  8. This is a special program Target does for shoppers who have difficulties with mobility. It is promoted in senior citizens homes and via social services programs. They provide personalized assistance with shopping (one-to-one if needed) and provide free gift wrap. The Target employees will spend as long as it takes to help a shopper complete their gift list and get all the presents wrapped and ready to go. Yes, I'm sure they make $$ because it attracts customers who might otherwise go elsewhere, but I'm impressed by the gesture anyway. I know it is appreciated by a couple of people I know who are wheelchair bound and want to get some gifts in person rather than online.
  9. OK--I'm coming out of lurkdom since I see folks in my area . I live in Greensboro. The "new" Target on New Garden Road used to be the best-kept secret for clearance deals, but people have discovered it now. I was there yesterday morning while the markdown and re-organizing was going on and got a cart full of toys for fall birthday parties and Christmas. There were a ton of moms and kids there, but it wasn't a madhouse. Everyone was letting their kids play in the aisles while they shopped and compared finds. The markdown team would let us know if they ran across something that was a new addition or a good deal (ie Barbies for less than $2.00). I feel like going back today to see what is left, but that is silly, right? I saw a bunch of train tables fly off a shelf and got the last one for a friend. I did see a couple of the red wagons for 2 still there when I left. Drives DH nuts when I do this (I did the same thing after Christmas) but then he is so happy when a birthday party invite shows up and I go "shopping" in the guest room for a nice gift for cheap!
