  1. I also buy for MY family (sister, g'parents) to give to our kiddos for gifts. They love that all they have to do it buy it from me (cheap), wrap it and they don't have to struggle with what to give my kids. Also, in their cases, they do not live anywhere close to a major city and don't have access to get gifts at very good prices. So, they are just thrilled about it!! (I don't do it for my inlaws, just my parents and sister.)

I do the same thing! I love to share my good finds with my family. It help them afford nice gifts for my kids.

  3. I just used this without any problem, you can cancel your order right after it shows up, don't wait. I used TRYAGAIN in all caps and typed it in myself. I also chose ground shipping $0, few days shorter then value shipping.

Thanks I cancelled. I also typed it in myself and it seem to take. I got two free shipping options and even my invoice showed the lower price including $3.00 off the game price. But

when I got my conformation email it was back up in price. Not sure why, but maybe it was not ment to be.

  4. NO, you do not need it. I was unsure myself, so I just popped a movie into my XBox 360 Arcade. This system is straight out of the box with zero add-ons, no harddrive, no patches. It started to play immediately. Since all 360's are equal to or better than my system, it will play on your 360.

I have no idea about the old XBox non-360.

I just got one of those 360 Arcade units but still in box until x-mas. With my ps2 it was not easy to rewind movies with the controller. How does this system work? Would the cheap wireless remote make it easier to rewind or go fast forward.

    thanks

  5. You can send it back refused and they will refund you.

How do I refuse. Could I just give it back to the ups guy. Will I have to pay the return shipping. I got it at B&N anyway. I had some gift cards I want to get rid of. I firgued I would just pay the shipping to return amazon. It is just my luck that they processed my order in 2 hours.

  6. The arcade needs a hard drive to play any Xbox games (old system Xbox, non-xbox 360). To make it backward compatible to play those you must download the patch and that has to go on the hard drive. The new systems are 512 MB, HOWEVER, if you've bought from any of the recent deals, they shipped out 256 MB instead which are the older models. He will be able to play and save right out of the box though as long as it is a 360 game.

You do not need wireless to play on line if you have a space to plug it into the router/modem. If you want wireless you need to buy a wireless adapter for the 360 separately. You do need XBox Live Gold to play online with friends which is a subscription. The system should come with at least a month free. After that they have a lower version that is free but you can't play with friends online or do some other things.

I've been watching for hard drives so here are your best shots. A 20 GB can be picked up on Amazon for around $35 to $40. A 60 GB starter kit is around $86 on Amazon. The kit comes with 3 months of Live Gold, the head set, a cable to hook up internet (not the wireless part, but hardwired) andthe 60GB drive. They make the same starter kit with a 20 GB but its harder to find and for the price difference, the 60 GB is better.

Also, your system probably only came with 1 controller, so if someone else is going to play with him right away, you'll need to get more.

Best place to get Xbox Live cards is somewhere like Costco where they are about $10 off ($40 a year I think it was).

Oh no! Do you mean he can not use the Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lord game I got him on ebay.

    :bigcry:

  7. Not true. It comes with(according to Xbox.com) a 512mb memory card(previous models had 256mb, but this changed recently). You can save games on the card. But you may want to invest in a hard drive later. By the time, you buy another memory card (512mb about $50) you could buy a refurbished 20 GB hard drive (lots of room) or even a 60GB for not much more. Then you can download demos and movies.

Do we need wireless internet to go on line. We still have a desk top.:grandpa: If the a hard drive does not get us online, I see that Amazon has a 512mb on sale for $24.xx should I buy this one?

    Thanks

  8. Ok I spoke with Amazon and here is the deal. You ONLY get the $5 free MP3's if you order these from Amazon direct, they are $5.94 I think. But the link in the OP's post is from Triplenet for $3.54. So unless you ordered from Amazon direct by clicking on the 25 new from $3.05 at the bottom of the ad and selecting Amazon, don't expect the $5 free MP3's but still a great deal....Just giving a heads up.

Thanks you save me a call:wife:

  9. To be fair, though, I do think some people do find it a sport to see how much free or nearly-free stuff they can get. Maybe they are reselling or donating, I don't know... but aside from donations or reselling it seems like an unhealthy behavior to me.... I picture overweight Choxie eating folks with bathroom cabinets stocked from top to bottom with shaving creams ....maybe not, but that is the image I conjure.

  10. I really thought about calling customer service or something. She even had the nerve to say that she wondered if someone had just "made those up on their computer" while giving me a funny look. :gdparanoid: The strangest thing to me was that I used the chips coupon and it worked, but the ones for the choxie bars wouldn't work.

I get really mixed results around here as far as customer service is concerned ... and store policy. When the furniture was going on clearance earlier this month I asked about buying a display sample of a dresser and was told that they do not sell them. I totally understood ... until 10 minutes later a different associate was trying to sell me a display sample of a dining table, he even said he would negotiate the price to get rid of it. Target has to be one of the strangest places I've ever shopped. But I still love it. :o

I have no problem using the chips coupons but the choxie bars only scan with the gun. I try to go the same cashiers when using the free coupon. It just makes life easier. If a cashier questions the uses of my coupon I ask them to call a manager and I always get the same answer. "If the coupon scans with the gun or on the table they can take the.":D

Yesterday them manager of Penfield told me that they have to be extra careful because there was a scam with web coupons to get larger items like $10 and $20 gift cards with purchase of some item.:gdparanoid: She said the corp made it easy for them and said only take coupons that scan.

  11. something tells me that they'll be making their coupons more limited in the future. or have their been such liberal coupons in the past? I am still new to that part.

By the way, I called the phone number yesterday to tell them about a "we aren't really supposed to take these" comment (second one from that store), and the lady on the phone told me that you can print them in the store at the kiosk where they have the registry! Of course it would only work for the ones currently on their site, but nonetheless if you forget it, you might as well try!

    What is a kiosk?

  12. I'm totally addicted to this too ... though I was addicted to Target before this, so it's not much different.

I think it really depends on the store what day it gets marked down. One of the stores in my area went to 50% off GB on Friday, then a couple more on Saturday, and the rest on Sunday. I've started to get a bit of a feel for what stores do markdowns first in my area. Don't forget, you can also call the store in the morning and just ask what % off GB is if you want. :)

Which store went 50% off on Friday? :runaway: I did not know about 50% off untill Saturday.
