About paketel

  • Birthday 06/20/1947
  1. At the beginning of the year, I schedule my vacation for Thanksgiving week not only for the extra holiday pay but for the Best Buy Black Friday fun.
  2. If the winds are from the NW then I will be at the store in Moline, IL because the store faces SE. If the winds are from the south or east I will be at the store in Davenport, IA because the store faces west.
  3. I hope to read all your comments again next year. Next year's ads will be the best ever!!! Everyone will be happy. Have a safe, healthy and prosperous year.
  4. With the addition of the $200 HP and rumor of a higher end HP, I'll be camping out again in Moline, IL. I have camped the past 5 years and have been in the first 10 every year except the first. I am making out my list of things to bring. There are 4 categories in my list: camping and electronic gear, clothes, food and entertainment. I'll be better prepared this year than I was the past few years.
  5. Thanks Taz. I was debating between the HP and the Toshiba ($479 package) and I went with the Toshiba although I have two HP desktops that have given me minimal problems over the years. Your information gives me relief.
  6. Bathroom breaks are tolerated where I wait. The closest facility is about three blocks away at Denny's. They sell coffee to us because they know we will be back to use the restroom again and buy more coffee.
  7. I am going solo this year. By the time I get there I hope to be one of the first. Following is the list of what I am bringing: food and beverages (18-20hr supply) retractible seats (2 extra in case my neighbor on each side needs one) blankets (2 small and one large down filled) zune player, amp and headphones (4 extra batteries for the amp) magazines (most recent PCmag and Wired) local newspaper for the day (ads included) notepad for a list to keep the line in order Open fires and propane burners are not allowed at this local BB, tents are discouraged and the electical receptacles on the outside of the building are shut off. Any suggestions on what else to bring for creature comforts?
  8. The new 'netbook' class of laptops are equpped with 8gb, 16gb, or 32gb solid state drives. They are loaded with Windows XP and used mostly for email and websurfing.
  9. I agree with you Taz. sir. I want to get there before every one else so I have choice of tickets. Last year I didn't decide until a couple hours before the doors opened. The discussions of the people in line helped me decide. I like to be 2nd or a couple later in line. Number one usually gets interviewd by the 10pm News.

Taz's advice is good. Research the model number. I do a google search on model numbers and type in "review" along with it. CNET and PCMag reviews are reliable.
  11. You are right Venusaur. I checked the adscan and it doesn't look as impressive as years past.
  12. Wait until they post the door busters.
  13. I hope the doorbuster deals get posted soon too. There are a few good deals in the regular ad but I get in line early for the door busters.
  14. There are two Best Buys close to me. The front door on one store faces northwest. The front door on the other store faces southeast. The choice is easy for me which store to stand in line.
  15. I'll get in line at the Moline, Il Best Buy at 10am Thanksgiving which will be 3 hrs earlier than last year which was 3 hrs earlier than the previous year which was 3 hours earlier than the year before that. Each year I was in about the same position in line...none further back than 25 or so. I have always been able to get what I intended to buy. I hope for a nice laptop this year.
