I definitely agree. I think the only way to go Thomas is to go wooden! Even though it is a lot more money (those Michaels coupons sure do help), it is worth the investment.

We were trying to decide the same thing. We decided to go with a wooden train table with trundles and train set from Costco (way cheaper than the "Thomas" set). But I am using my 40% coupons from the paper from Michaels to pick up the real Thomas stuff cheaper there to add to the table so that my ds can play with all of the characters. So I literally go in and buy one Thomas thing at a time when I have a coupon. My ds does like to play with Geotrax at the neighbors house, but really likes Thomas better.

I know it can be frustrating finding certain toys right now. Keep calling wal-mart, target and other stores. I have heard that they are getting them sporadically in shipments. You also might want to keep checking online. Just the other day I went to walmart.com and they were in stock. I know it is getting close to time, but you could pay for fast shipping. My SIL got this for my DD. She got lucky on walmart.com. Keep trying.
