  1. Costco is supposed to be very reasonable if there's one nearby, as is WalMart Here are some online sources: Current rebates famvision Coatal Contacts just ordered a year's supply for my oldest daughter from them, with a nice rebate to send in.
  2. Troubleshoot your clothes dryer & they have parts. They're like a million times simpler than PC's...
  3. This is perhaps the least ethical thing I've ever heard from a salesperson, but I'll post it, just because it really happened... Wife & I were looking @ the newest, fanciest washer & dryer set @ Sears & I was bemoaning that there weren't any returned ones @ a discount... The salesman tells me to have my inlaws buy a set & return them during the grace period for full credit & then us buy them as returns We didn't do what he suggested, but it was really strange to hear him mention it.
  4. Sears always seems to have a deal going on dryers... YGPM (in a second)
  5. My 160 gb hd is a retail packaged Maxtor
  6. Man, I used to be pretty rowdy back in the day, but I'd be very careful with all the video surveillence nowdays...
  7. I got one of the $39 DVD burners over the phone Had about a 20 minute wait, but they said they would sent me one
  8. They're fine for what they are, definitely not a desktop replacement or an ultraportable. We bought similarly spec'd notebooks for our kids, nothing you'd do intensive 3D gaming on, but great for a portable web box, homework, etc. With upgrading the kids to notebooks, I will have 2 extra 15" LCD's, I need some PCI VGA cards & I can have 4 mismatched LCD's hooked up to my box;)

  10. I was too lazy to get a killer notebook deal, but wife & I went to local Office Depot & scored a notebook each, then I headed to Staples & got a couple of flash cards & a 160 gb HD & used a 30 off 150 coupon I'm very happy I didn't have to wait in line in a metro area store The notebooks are Christmas presents for our daughters, wife & I are gutting our "office" room & make it a workout room & taking out the desktop PC's (except for mine)
  11. To connect away from home, there are several methods: 1.) Wi Fi (should already be built in), but you need to be withing several hundred feet of an access point, and there's typically a fee to connect to someone else's access point. SBC ^ McDonalds have teamed up & the fee is just a couple dollars above the base SBC contract. 2.) GSM/misc requires extra hardware (can be a card or a cable to a cell phone that acts like a modem) this is a relatively expensive method, requires a contract for the data service and not practicle (@ least for me) How are you currently accessing the internet?
  12. <---Confused. Do you mean are there any free trials of an ISP (internet service provider) included with the notebook? If so then yes, there's usually several pre loaded on new systems. Do you mean using the wireless internet @ home? That requires internet service & a wireless router/gateway @ home.

  20. Midlothian, Texas, ~20 miles S of Dallas Married, 2 children 12 & 15 I like Gotta Deal because it's still small, spect that'll change as time goes on. Also like that coupon codes are allowed. BF-sort of excited, will be looking for inexpensive notebooks for our daughters, wife just jumped on board with the idea of turning PC room into exercise room & making the kids portable. The lounge rocks Love the coupon idea, I've been a coupon shopper for a long time, I go through the Sunday paper's inserts, clip & organize coupons.
  21. I hate Fry's big sales, you have to have the back up deals in mind & run your ass off form area to area
  22. My brother in law actually works for Seagate... Worthless rat & his $400K house on the side of a mountain I'd be jealous of his wife, but I married her younger, cuter sister
