http://blackfriday.gottadeal.com/BlackFridayScans/HalfPriceBooks get excited, I know you've all been waiting for this one seriously, we take what we can get at this early stage haha

I don’t think so. For the most part the toy books are more of a catalog, less of a sale ad. You’ll see many items at regular price in some of the toy books.

This weekend is definitely the calm before the storm...

Decent deal on a Switch console with Super Mario Odyssey and a bunch of Mario merch on the front page: http://www.gottadeal.com/DirectDeal/160597 I think ThinkGeek forgot to turn on the "no coupons allowed" switch for this bundle, so the 20% off code works.

I know that retailers absolutely hate it when it’s late because they lose one of the precious shopping weekends between BF and Christmas. Counting BF weekend, there are 5 weekends this year and next year, but then in 2019 when BF goes back to the 29th, they only get 4 weekends which are where they make a huge chunk of their Q4 revenue. For myself running the site, when BF is on the 28th or 29th it pushes Cyber Monday to December which can have some negative financial effects, but there is also more time between Halloween and BF which is when the hype is highest, so it probably evens out.

Amazingly they all fit in a single Rubbermaid storage bin. I got rid of the actual newspaper sections so it's just one heavy 50lb+ bin of ads. Enough space for this year and then it'll be on to bin #2

Yep, started doing it back in 2006. Really wish I had some earlier than that, but we have a couple years before that in digital form on http://www.blackfridayarchive.com I keep telling myself I'm going to scan all my older ones so we have cleaner copies on the archive site, but the stack of ads I have is very imposing and the thought of scanning every . single . page in all those ads scares me away. The ads I have are from the local paper, so I'm missing some stores that we didn't have around here back then as well, but I've got all the big ones (Walmart, Target, Kohl's, Best Buy, Toys R Us, Sears, JCPenney, Kmart, etc) from every single year.
-
If you missed it, just look at last years ad: http://www.blackfridayarchive.com/Ad/Kohls/2016 Aside from some of the tech items, the ads are virtually identical.

I think they want to release it themselves so you'll go to their site, make your shopping list on their site, etc... They want the traffic and promotion to help themselves, not a bunch of other sites. I can see where they are coming from, but it's the internet - once it's out there, it's nearly impossible to completely erase it.
-
If they release it "officially" the same day as last year, you'll have it once again a week from today.
-
Yeah we had to remove it from the listing on the BF site

Enjoy the ad while it's still there. Hearing Kohl's isn't very happy right now...

I heard from Dev a few days ago and he said the webcasts are still a go. He was on the forum yesterday but didn’t post.

The Kohl’s Black Friday ad or the JFK Assassination records that were just released. What are you browsing?

Our Twitter (@GottaDEAL or @BlackFridayNews) is a good place to be notified right away about pretty much every new ad within minutes of it going on the site. With the emails, we don't want to bombard you with so many, especially when things get busier. So unless it's a bigger ad (which we'll email about right away), we tend to wait a bit until we have a few that we can then email about. - Another option if you have a forum account is to "Follow" the Posted Black Friday Ads forum. Go here: http://forums.gottadeal.com/forum/117-posted-black-friday-ads/ and click the "Follow this forum" button in the upper right part of the page. You can then choose to be notified instantly when I post a new thread in that particular forum, which means a new ad has been posted. Then go to your Notifications control panel: http://forums.gottadeal.com/index.php?app=core&module=usercp&tab=core&area=notifications and set the various options for getting notified of new posts or just new threads, as well as if you want those notifications emailed and/or just shown when you are on the forum.

Some that I remember from typing up the ads all these years: Toys R Us almost always has the Fisher-Price Doctor's Kit and Sears for the longest time always had the Craftsman clock made to look like a circular saw blade.
