  1. Why haven't they "reminded" us in the past? And if this is just a "reminder", I might just happen to "forget" and post the ad until they have to "remind" me again
  2. How about have people register earlier in the week (Monday or Tuesday). Randomly pick the first however many spots and notify them on Wednesday what number they are. As long as they are there by 1 hour before opening they get their spot, and if people want to camp out for the spots behind this main group, let them.
  3. Their competitors' ads have already been prepared and printed, and in some cases their competitors' ads come out BEFORE Wal-Mart's ad. Other than add something at the last minute with a supplementary ad or an in-store flyer, there isn't much they can do this late in the game. And if Wal-Mart's ad comes out on 11/19 like they say it can, that still gives other stores 4-5 days to make last minute changes.
  4. Don't worry about going to other BF sites - we all know which is the best site :) And yeah, I was expecting more from the other sites. I guess they are more concerned with keeping their affiliate relationship with Wal-Mart than doing what's right. They don't want to chance losing $ from Wal-Mart, so they have to keep Wal-Mart happy. That's obviously not happening here, lol. Kind of sad, since if Wal-Mart gets away with this, every other store can easily do the same thing to all the BF sites. Once again, keep calling and e-mailing today everyone. Let them know you're not going to go away anytime soon!
  5. Another good suggestion: create a fire with Wal-Mart BF ads
  6. I am going to keep the legal aspects of this private. But to clarify, yes, obviously there is a difference between a letter e-mailed from a lawyer and an official order from a court. During the 4 years this site has been open similar things have happened with other retailers, so none of these tactics are "new". The posts in this thread (and the replies to those posts) from one now-former member have been deleted. They were inflammatory and the member was basically trolling and trying to get everyone upset. This was the same member who was attacking other members in the Wal-Mart layaway thread. They have been banned from the site. Once again everyone, keep e-mailing and calling. If you called today, call again tomorrow. Keep the pressure on them and don't let up. Thanks to everyone who has done something today :)
  7. Thank you to everyone who keeps calling and e-mailing them :) But don't stop today - keep calling them every day until they change their decision. If the calls stop after today, they'll feel as if they've "weathered the storm" and nothing will get done. Your e-mails and especially your calls are making a difference!
  8. They aren't suing anyone yet. They are saying if we post the ads they will consider legal action.
  9. Probably wants to ask me to stop having you guys call her all day
  10. The original e-mail was sent by a law firm, not someone at Wal-Mart. They have nothing to do with this other than doing what their client tells them to do.
  11. what's the saying? any publicity is good publicity maybe we'll once again see those ebay auctions promising "black friday secrets - the info wal-mart doesn't want you to have!!!!"
  12. Good job on the e-mails. Calling might work better if they let you talk to a human. Here is a mailing address for snail mail letters as well: Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. Bentonville, Arkansas 72716-8611 If anyone can find more direct phone numbers or e-mail addresses for the higher-ups at WM, that would also be awesome.
  13. From what I've seen in the past with other stores, it's a combination of the ad, plus just the pricing information. That is seen as being confidential, trade secrets, blah blah blah. We'll figure something out if it comes to that. Ideally they'll reconsider now that the story has gotten out and they are going to be made to look pretty bad in a lot of people's opinions.
  14. I'm sure there are several Wal-Mart corporate employees registered on here - most of them harmless and here for the same reason the rest of you are here.
  15. Another phone number I found for WM: 479-273-4000
  16. Their competitors' ads have already been designed as well. In many cases their competitors' ads come out before their own.
  17. This is not about my partnership with Walmart - I'm not worried about that and will deal with whatever happens. I would suggest to those of you who would like to see the Black Friday ads continue to come out early that you contact Wal-Mart about this. If this is allowed to happen with Wal-Mart, every other store could do the same thing and there would be no more early releases of Black Friday ads on any site.
  18. See thread here: http://forums.gottadeal.com/showthread.php?t=85021
  19. CNN story: http://money.cnn.com/2007/10/18/news/companies/walmart_blackfridaylegal/index.htm
  20. We recently received a letter via e-mail from the legal representatives of Wal-Mart. Basically they admitted that they are awful at keeping their information from getting leaked to GottaDeal.com and therefore are threatening to take legal action against the site even before the ad has been posted. At this point we have not decided whether or not the ad will be posted should we receive it early this year. If you are like us and are disappointed with Wal-Mart's poor decision to threaten legal action against GottaDeal.com and other sites if their Black Friday ad is posted early, feel free to let them know how you feel. You can fill out the Wal-Mart Corporate Site Feedback Form or call them at 1-800-WAL-MART. Their media relations people can also be reached at 1-800-331-0085. Tell them you are unhappy with their decision and you'd like them to reconisider their stance on taking legal action against GottaDeal.com should their Black Friday ad be released early. DO NOT POST PERSONAL HOME OR CELL PHONE NUMBERS OR HOME ADDRESSES OF WAL-MART EMPLOYEES IN THIS THREAD
  21. I'd try logging out of the forum and then back in. If that doesn't work, try clearing your cookies and then try again. It uses a cookie, so as long as it's set, you should have no problems.

  24. Just the first time per account. To everyone: when posting these Buy.com Google Checkout deals, please post the actual price before the GCO discount in the thread titles as not everyone qualifies for the discount anymore. Plus this is a repost: http://forums.gottadeal.com/showthread.php?t=84719 Closing thread.
  25. Actually Hitachi does have 1080p sets in several sizes, for example: http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product_Id=4153121
