Reminder: The Kohl's Cash offer drops to $10 at midnight CT tonight.

Shirts were delivered yesterday, they are now all packaged and labeled and will be picked up by the post office tomorrow. Then it's out of my hands and you're at the mercy of the United States Postal Service Worst case scenario they arrive after BF but since there's no date on them, they can be used any year

Exactly. At the very least, this transition served to end the practice of major stores being open on Thanksgiving Day which the majority here agree is a good thing. Another thing that has changed is free shipping. We used to see a lot of big retailers (Best Buy, Target, etc.) with free shipping on all orders this time of year. But now with store pickup and curbside delivery being used much more widely, stores tend to push that as an option for those who don't want to pay for shipping. Kohl's for example used to have free shipping on $25 or $50 this time of year but they haven't budged from their $75 minimum in years. With shipping and freight costs much higher, they can't make a profit shipping a $7 item for free. Once supply chains and the pandemic are more under control, which could happen as soon as BF 2022, I think retailers will want to have their cake and eat it too. They'll still have big sales all November like they do now but they'll want to reclaim that huge spike of in-store sales revenue that Black Friday would always bring them, so they'll hopefully give shoppers a reason to show up bright and early on Friday morning. While online sales have skyrocketed, they are still a small piece of the pie compared to in-store sales.

COVID allowed retailers to extend the holiday shopping season from a month (BF to Christmas) to nearly 2 months long and to extend Black Friday from one or two days to anywhere from a week to an entire month. They won't want to give that back. For many years stores would advertise "early Black Friday sales" in early November but they were never anything exciting and we never even bothered posting 95% of them on the site because they'd just be using the term "Black Friday" to trick people into thinking the deals were good. But last year they were able to say "hey, these early sales are legit now - they are our actual BF sale split up over multiple weeks" and it has made these early sales much more interesting for us to follow as there way more actual deals in them than there used to be. I think the best we can hope for is that these various sales continue throughout November but they save some big doorbusters for Black Friday to get people in the stores again once supply chains catch up and COVID (hopefully) becomes less of a concern. And remember - you can still treat BF as the way it used to be - many stores are opening up at 5am - you can still shop all day and night if you want. You just won't have to because the deals will have been available previously in store and online.

Already 50 members in less than 5 days. We had 60 start out last year.

Despite being called "The Big One" they still are too small in my opinion. But I'm tall.

Someone forgot to actually publish the ad scan lol. Waiting....

We'll definitely try to bring BJS back next year for a webcast or two when the big ads come out. And hopefully he has actual exciting ads to talk about next year unlike the rather pathetic ones so far this year
-
He's way too important to hang with us anymore. I'd have to pay him an appearance fee to get him to post more than a couple times each year

Update: shirts are (finally) being delivered to me from the printer today. Best case scenario they will be on their way to you tomorrow, otherwise over the weekend for sure. Hopefully nearly 3 weeks is enough time for the USPS to get them to you in time for BF, but knowing the USPS, anything can happen. Note that if you both bought AND won shirts, they will arrive together in the same package.

Walmart is going to sell a bunch of Walmart+ months after some of these deals sold out so fast after being available for a long time during the W+ early access sale.

Results so far from 26 replies: A: 17 B: 6 C: 3 Very few GDers had Walmart+ before but Walmart did (temporarily at least) triple their members because of BF early access.
-
I'm curious as to how many GDers actually have Walmart+ with the BF sales starting tomorrow, so if you could, reply to this thread with your answer A, B or C and any comments you have: Do you have Walmart+? A. No. B. Yes, but I signed up specifically for the Black Friday sales. C. Yes, and I had it before they announced early access to Black Friday sales.

As far as the bigger ads: - Kohl's will be released this Friday (late Thursday night). - Walmart's BF week ad would be released Monday the 15th (late Sunday night) if they repeat what they did last year. - Target's BF week ad would be released Thursday the 18th (late Wednesday night) if they repeat what they did last year. - Best Buy I have no clue. They may not even have a traditional ad and will just have deals show up online as they start. Of course if we get leaked physical copies of these ads they may come sooner like what happened last year.
