pianoman Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Looking seriously at this one. Been waiting for the one. Anyone have this or can tell me if this is a good deal or should wait till BF. Thanks
allshoppedout Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Did you read the reviews? There are 70, most of them are 5 stars... A few mentioned sound wasn't good (My comment on that is I heard that Sony is the ONLY company to make the speakers in the FRONT) so unless you want to pay $$ for a Sony you can expect it to be a little less loud as sound could come from back or side...) and then a few said that things seemed a little GREEN....(tint) I'd definitely take the chance with all the good reviews
letsbeon Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 i have a vizio---not this model---that i purchased from costco. i love the t.v....as stated above, the sound isn't the greatest. however, it you have it hooked up into a surround sound system who cares!!! seems like a really good price. vizio is the price leader---they tend to set the benchmark for prices, and the other manufacturers reluctantly follow!!! if you don't want to wait for bf, i'd get it.
Mickey62 Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Not crazy about the resolution since it isn't 1980x1020, but I have a Panasonic 42" 720P Plasma with the same resolution and love it.

Rather non techy with this stuff. What should I look for? A friend of mine told me that I should wait until BF and try and get one with 120 hz since football will be on it a lot.
Stowasser Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Could you explain? Rather non techy with this stuff. What should I look for? A friend of mine told me that I should wait until BF and try and get one with 120 hz since football will be on it a lot.I was told that the larger the screen the more the pixels play in sharpness so for this size TV 1080 would be sharper versus 720. I think the hz is sound quality but might be wrong on that. I am waiting for Vizio sale for 42" in the 1080 version if I can get 120 HZ at a great price then would buy if not, not important to us.

You have to have 1980X1020 resolution in order for it to be a 1080p set.

Mickey62 Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Hertz is the refresh rate, the higher the better for fast moving such as sports, action movies. From what I can gather, the only advantage 1080P over 720P is for tv's 50" and larger. I viewed two side by side and saw no difference in 1080 and 720 on 42"..
