Promom Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Has anyone purchased just the drums for the guitar hero for the wii? Ds wants them for his birthday, but didn't know if it was worth the $140.
mamapenguin Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Read the reviews. That alone has scared me away & my daughter is a drummer. We only bought the guitar/game set. I would have bought the whole band kit if I thought it was reliable. GL I had to send back 2 guitars when Rockband first came out & I just didn't want to go through the hassle again.
com Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 I purchased the whole set on release date and haven't had any problems with it and my kids, nephews, nieces, brothers, sisters, etc, really beat on those poor drums. I think they have held up amazingly well considering the abuse they get on a daily basis.
Scanner420 Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 From what I've seen, it's basically a crapshoot. You either get a set or equipment that can take an amazing pounding or something that needs a replacement because you took it out of the box wrong. I got RB 1 as a gift last year and added strut pieces for extra support on the outer two drums and haven't had a problem with me and my kids pounding the crap outta them. You could also look into the Ion Drum Kit for RB2 and the replacement heads for RB1 called metalwoods. Both are a little pricy, but you'll get what you pay for. Both can take an amazing pounding. I'll PM you the site if you'd like.

I asked an employee at Best Buy before Christmas if the drums for the Wii were available for sale by themselves, and he said no. I had no reason to doubt him because I have not seen them for sale by themselves anywhere, just the whole band kit for Guitar Hero.
