I haven't looked for horseriding gear in awhile, but I love jefferspet.com. They are locally based to me, so I go to their warehouse quite a bit but they are reasonable on most other things so I'd check them out!

I always used to go to the local feed and farm store and they would have stuff on consignment or signs with items listed for sale.

Lets face it owning a horse in not for the light of wallet..thats why I haven't owned in years :(

Horse people will find the money if they want a horse. We own 4 acres which supports my 2 horses summer grazing and we bale the end corners on the neighbors fields for our winter hay. I don't have heavy wallets, on the contrary, but it is a way of life here.I belong to a local saddle club and we wpent every vacation since I was 9 years old, 34 years ago, at a trail ride in Missouri. We went wether we had money or not. My dad would tell his bosses he was going with or without their permission. That's just the way horse people are. I get my tack from Valley Vet Supply. Some stuff I get from ebay or the local tack store. They have very goood prices. Farm King was my next stop. For boots, Sierra Trading Post has nice boots up to 75% off retail. I bought all 6 grandchildren Ariat's for xmas on there. When my daughter was showing, I got most of her stuff on ebay and made the leather showvests myself as I am experienced at that sort of thing.

Spent vacations at a Trail Ride in Missouri? Which one?

We usually just buy gear from the local tack shop. Boots come from local farm stores or Sierra Trading Post. A lot of our rodeos have a swap meet type setup and there's some great buys there.

'Where else, the Cross Country Trail Ride at Eminence. I was 9 years old the first time. My parents still go, I don't as My husband doesn't like horses. But 75% off our trail ride members go. My parents camp with people from Tennessee They have been friends with since the beginning 34 years ago.

we shop at our local tractor supply store, theyve also got a great sale at sheplers.com. I recommend trying boots on tho before you buy. If you are in an area with horses, they most likely have a supply shop where you can buy boots.

You are talking about boots for yourself or the horse?

Are there any horse auctions in your area? Usually you can find cheap tack and supplies there. You can also do the ebay thing or horse.com has reasonable prices with free shipping over 49.00. Sometimes different forums have a tack swap.

I've always wanted to ride that ride in MO. I didn't know how difficult the trails were though.

Not like they used to be. My dad still takes the old ones that are treacherous, but the majority of them are gravelled roads for safety purpose. I prefer ebay or sierra trading post for boots although one of our saddle club members had a garage sale with 3 pairs of Justin ropers for 10 and one pair had never been worn and marked 150 for 10. I bought all of them. I bught my 5 granddaughters Ariat Fatbabies at Christmas for about 22.00 regular 87. Depending on the dealflyer email that I get each day I have extra percentage off and there are new sales everyday. Bought my grandson a pair of HH green and tan ropers new off of ebay for 16.00. they were still double that on sierra.
