It gives me this message: The following coupons have been entered but require additional information or do not meet eligibility requirements. Click "View Details" link(s) for more information. Although it will be heavyer, I'm thinking that the 17in screen would be better for my bro because he has an astigmatism (sp?) and another eye disease, so a bigger screen is easier on his eyes. Right now, it is: -1.6 PM 533 FSB -1 gig ram -64 MB ATI x300 -base HD and CD-rw/DVD rom (he has regular comp, so doesn't need more) -6 cell and extra 9 cell battery -1 year warrenty Total is 1,907.00 brought down to 1,157.00 with free shipping Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

pmptg Posted June 3, 2005 Share Posted June 3, 2005 I'm trying to get a 6000 (1.6), Windows XP Pro, 15"WXGA, 512mb, 80GB,DVD Burner,Wireless b,g, Microsoft Office Small Business, Norton Security,External USB Floppy, Tripplite Surge supressor. I've got it to $1,794.00 before shipping and tax. Is this the best I can do?? I did a similiar configuration (minus Tripplite and external USB floppy) and my total came out to $1,864? I would consider removing the Norton Internet Security. There are plenty of free applications which act as a firewall, anti-virus and anti-spyware. But if this is for someone who is not-so-computer savvy, then you should probably get it. One thing you should NOT skimp on is the warranty. You don't have to get at home or complete care but definitely go for at least 2-3 years warranty coverage. Remember laptops are not cheap or easy to fix. Upgrading to the 2 year at home warranty is only $124 which is well worth it. He has had a bad experience with a virus previously and he is gung ho on the Norton and after your suggestion he might just go ahead with the extended warranty. Thanks again for the quick response.
