Ups grrrrrrr

I was wondering where another package was that was supposed to be delivered yesterday was at. I got online to amazon and checked my account and tracked the package and it showed it was delivered here yesterday at 10:40am to "front door". Hmmmmm. So I go check AGAIN. Still no package. I call my mother in law cause sometimes they deliver to her house and vice versa. Nope. Still puzzled, I go outside BAREFOOTED in this cold weather. I go down the steps and look under my porch...and theres my package. UNDLER MY PORCH..not at my front door. And worse...the damn thing is OPEN. Not just slightly..I mean the packaging tape was pulled completely off and the boxed was fully opened and you could tell they must not have like what was inside and tossed it under my porch. It was there all night...it had leaves in it, some dirt, and even a daddy long legs was stuck to the tape laying on the side. This just pisses me off to no end. UPS hires extra help for the holidays and now their resorting to opening packages???? I know it wasn't Josh cause when me and the kids got home from my job yesterday...me and josh went out on the porch to look if it arrived and he's not strong enough to peel the packaging tape and PULL it completely off the box. So how do you file a complaint to UPS???

I agree with the previous posters. I bet it was somebody walking by and saw it laying at your front door. They opened and tossed it under the porch. I think if the driver had tried to steal anything in it he would have not left it there at all. It would have made more sense for him to say it was delivered and someone must have taken the package.

When I ordered a Wii and games bundle from WalMart, only 2 games arrived (the Wii and 4 games did not) Then a neighbor brought over the Wii saying it was delivered there. Never got the other games. UPS said they were delivered. I complained to WalMart who refunded my money right away and I am assuming dealt with UPS. They were contracted to WalMart so responsible to them, not me.

If we lived in town, I could see a stranger doing that..but we live WAY out in the country and our driveway is a 1/4 mile long...the only neighbor we have is my mother in law across the driveway as we share the 5 acres. The next closest neighbor is a mile down the road and our house is not next to the county road..its a 1/4 mile off of it. So they'd have to have some exellent eyesight to see a box on a porch that has lattice fence all around it. kwim? I did file a report with the 800 number to UPS and he was very apologetic about the situation, but said it wasn't uncommon for this to happen since they hire a lot of temporary help for the holidays. He emailed my complaint to the local UPS office 35 miles away that delivers our packages and took the tracking number too. Within 30minutes, the manager called me personally to discuss it. He was very apologetic too and was glad nothing was missing. He said he pulled the tracking number and knows the driver that delivered it and he's a temp for the holidays and he'd be calling him in tomorrow for a sit down in his office to discuss this in the hopes it doesn't happen again, or if the package was that way on the truck already, to make sure he knows not to deliver anything like that tothe customers. They handled it very nicely.

Same thing happened last holiday season with Toys r Us. They were really nice and sent out another game. The funny thing is that a week later the missing game showed up in my mailbox with no info on it. I called Toys r Us and they told me it was too late to cancel the other one since it was already written off as a loss. Very weird situation all around.

Well, its official..I have p*ssed off the UPS man. The supervisor called me this morning and told me that he talked to the delivery guy and was sorry about what happened, but the guy was adamant that he didn't know what happend and that he did set it up on my porch. I told him I appreciated him checking in to it and that I believe it was set up on my porch, I just wanted to bring it to their attention though becuase I have no idea who did it. I thought that was the end of it. THOUGHT was wrong. The UPS guy came in to the cafe where I work today. Yes......he did. He came in and slapped the email down on the counter and very loudly and rudely asked if I was Mrs. Carrasco. I was very nice to him and used my manners the whole time he was there. He laid in to me..caused a huge scene all the while I was polite. After he left, I went to the back of the kitchen to cry and my coworkers didn't know what happened except for one, Jenn. She heard the beginning and my boss was mad that he came in with a chip on his shoulder and tore into me like he did. She is calling the supervisor this evening and speaking to him about his employee and how the situation was handled and how he came in like a man on a mission ready to rip someone up. I just want to forget this day. He rudely told me..from now on..someone has to be home to sign for any of your future packages because I won't be leaving them there anymore. Which is fine by me..it should be that way anyhow. I should have used that moment to tell him that it would be nice that he gets the delivery addresses right too...because he usually leaves my inlaws stuff at my house when they live across the driveway..or he'll come in and leave a package onthe counter at the cafe and leave...won't even tell us he's leaving it there...and it won't even be MY package..its usually for my sister in law or someone and I have to bring it with me and deliver it.

Oh heck no! I can't believe he did that! I would consider reporting him to the police. I know it may seem drastic, but he harassed you at your work place and caused a scene and shouldn't be allowed back in the cafe where you work.

Wow, that must be a small town to know where you work, leave other people's packages there etc... Small town people are supposed to be more polite and well mannered. That makes this even MORE insulting. I could see if he rang your bell next time he delivered a package at your house and said something like "I'm sorry your last package had trouble, I don't know what happened, but when I left it, it was on your porch, from now on I am to leave them with you and a signature" Fine, but to come to your work... to lay into you... to make a scene... :2bat: He needs some manners taught to him! I am so sorry you had to deal with him. What a disgrace to mankind (and to UPS!)

I'm still pretty upset over it. My boss..who is also my friend wants me to bring in the phone number the supervisor called from off my home phone caller id so she can call him tomorrow and report him. She is pretty mad that he even came in to the cafe and was as rude as he was. You know..it would have been so different if he asked to talk to me for a moment..TALK to me...but he didn't...he was a man on a mission and mad about it all I guess. But I want to know...if he came home and couldn't find a package HE was waiting for for two days..then found it UNDER his porch, opened, dirty, and whatnot...wouldn't he call UPS or the post office or something to give them a notice of his package's condition and where it was found? I mean...thats why UPS insures their packages right??? AND I was honest that nothing was missing out of the box...I could just as easily lied and said a 40.00 doll was missing from the box. I was honest...I was polite...and I wasn't accusing him of attempting theft. I just found it really odd to find my package under my porch totally opened and sitting under there for two days. Since there wasn't really anyone to point at here...I thought I did the right thing calling the 800 number.

 

Yes, this is a small town. One red light..about 1900 population. He knew where I worked at with Lori at the convenience store before she opened up the cafe. He used to drop off packages for my sister in law at the store I worked at...he'd just walk in...stick it on the counter in the middle of us serving lunch plates and would leave. Thats when I didn't have a car and was walking 1 1/2 miles one way to and from work...I'd have to leave the packages there and have my sil come pick up her package the next day cause I couldn't walk home 1 1/2 miles with a box!

 

So, what would you do? Should I also call the supervisor and tell him what happened and how upset it made me or just leave it to my boss? I'm scared I'll never recieve another package from UPS now!

I think I'd wait and give the boss a shot at it first so it isn't even you complaining, it is someone else who saw it, an unbiased bystand who was so offended by his behavior that they felt compelled to call in. If that doesn't produce results then I'd call in too. Face it, he is obviously already pissed at you so it isn't going to change things. But I thought they said he was a temp for the holidays but it sounds like he's been delivering to you for a long time???

 

I think my neighbors will think I have a fling with my UPS man with as often as he is here now :D

I personally would not complain. If, after what happened, he had the outburst he did, I probably would just leave it.

 

You complained, he came to your place of business. If you complain again, he could get fired or re assigned...both would probably be worse for him and you would have to deal with what he did in that case. Wouldn't be worth it to me.

We had a problem with our UPS driver last year ( I posted about it) He left an expensive package at the end of our lane IN the TRASHCAN during a snowstorm. I found it by luck the next day, COVERED in snow. I called, the supervisor apologized and talked to the driver. The driver came back to my house YELLING at me. I never called back to report it because I kept thinking the guy might have a family and kids depending on his job for Christmas.But we now have a new UPS driver, they changed his route.

Oh I'd be tempted to call that in again. How dare he come into your place of work,

I dont think i'd feel very comfortable with him delivering anymore packages to my house,

Complaining could make it worse, but also if you dont complain, he just got away with it.

I think that UPS is probably aware of his issues...at this level, he probably cannot hide them. So I would let that resolve itself. Perhaps he will get away with it, but I really doubt that....but of course I have been wrong before!

Thats what I'm afraid of too. If I call and report it again...what will happen next? What I could do from now on is have all my packages via ups either delivered to my moms address across town or to the cafe where I will sign for them or someone else that is on shift if I happen to not be working. There are plenty of people that work there with me.

I think I would program the UPS number into my cell phone and call the next time he was anything but polite to me... right in the middle of his sentance if need be. Just "hang on a sec, I have your managers number right here... lets call and let them know your concern..."

He had ABSOLUTELY no right to yell at you.....PERIOD. The fact he tracked you down at your workplace makes it even worse. I do not think you should just let it go. I would file a police report and call the supervisor again and tell him what happened. Don't be nice and polite to that supervisor. Did he actually provide the driver with a copy of your emailed complaint? IMO, that is also unbelievable! He needs to be told in no uncertain terms that the driver's behavior was absolutely unacceptable. He should not be working for UPS any more! That is ludicrous! Don't let him off the hook for this outburst, it needs to be reported. If you don't get anywhere with his immediate supervisor, go further up.

I am not an alarmist by nature, lol, but I would simply file the police report so that if he does anything to you again, you've already got proof of what happened. You didn't do anything wrong by calling the 800#, please don't blame yourself. Good luck and keep us posted!

I have to say I have always had the most wonderful UPS people, it's FedEx I have issues with. The only time I recieved anything from them at my old house was when I had to sign for it, otherwise it would say it was delivered and left but it wasn't. We also live in the country, and have a inside porch where all the packages are left, we have a home buisness and get a lot of deliveries via ups usually. Everytime a fedex package was supposed to have been delivered and it wasn't I call fedex who refuses to let you talk to the local office. They don't care and say to contact the sender who will send a replacement and file a claim with them. I point out that it is a continual problem and they say the same thing. When the companies reship they send overnight and require signature though.

Oh wow... sorry that you had to go through that. Sounds like he might need some "anger management" classes. lol. He was totally out of line to come into your place of employment and behave as he did. It's harrassment, pure and simple. I would allow your boss to call his supervisor, advise him of the situation, and make it clear that he was NOT to be back at your place of employment, or that if he harrasses you anywhere else the police will be called. I hope things work out for you... maybe they will change his route.

I'm now home from work. When I got there this morning, I gave Lori the number to the supervisor and she called her husband. She told me Clinton(her husband) told us not to worry about it, because he was going to handle it. See....that delivery guy picked the WRONG business to walk in to yesterday in a bad mood...Clinton owns the cafe and is also the mayor of our town too. So in other words, the mayor is contacting the supervisor today as the business owner and he is also going to speak to the driver whenever he either makes a deliver or a pickup at his office at city hall. They don't want me to call the supervisor myself, they want to handle it. Which is okay by me. Clinton said he was going to inform the supervisor that the guy has no business stepping foot in the cafe from now on unless its to make a delivery..and ONLY for a delivery, otherwise, he is not welcome there and harrassment will not be tolerated in the future.

 

I'm still leery about the guy now...so I think from now on, I'm only shipping UPS packages to my mothers house across town or to the cafe only where I have people with me. Sad that it comes to this.

Wow, it really doesn't sound like something that a UPS worker would do. They generally tend to frown upon that behavior? It is pretty shocking if he came into the cafe' just to do that to you? I would be upset too?

 

I think that perhaps with all of the GDers and FPG's buying and shipping gifts all over the country......... that UPS and the USPS have finally lost it!!

 

It is very sad to think that we have driven them to this length!! :(

I understand why you would be upset by him coming into your work. However, I think it's very wrong for all of these other people to be getting involved in this situation.

 

To call the mayor?! Please! I would think that any mayor in his right mind would think twice about making any calls over a matter such as this in an official capacity. It would be construed as an abuse of power.

 

I buy hundreds....ok more like thousands of dollars of items online annually and I have NEVER had ANYTHING negative happen with UPS. Of course this is a lot bigger city than 1900 people so maybe it's a difference in the mentalities of where people live.
