Azzycat
How about annual passes to a local children's museum or zoo? What my parents have started doing for my overly indulged children is to give them a smaller gift and take the rest of the money they would have spent on gifts and put it in a 509K college fund for them. Fine with me, I can buy presents cheaper than my parents can and my kids have a little bit of money for college now. The money I had put aside for them for college got lost in the stock market mess. It wasn't much, but it's gone..
