I'm not sure if this was asked, at superwalmart last year it appeared that people were walking around with some of the smaller black friday items already in their carts. They had a section roped off where the dvd players, tvs and such were but others were walking in the open areas with some black friday toy items in their carts.Does super walmart let you get some items early but not pay for them until 5am?

Most likely yes if it's something that is stocked everyday in the respective sections. Items that are not everyday items will be in plastic until the go time. Be careful, there may be multiple versions of the same project and the normally stocked items will not be on sale.

When our super walmart was open 24 hours we would go in at 2am and get any of the sale items (except for the big ticket items) and put them in our cart. We just couldn't check out until 5am. Most times the walmart employees would even help you find the items you were looking for and help cut through the plastic wrapping.

Since they have ditched the 24 hours we now have to wait in line outside.

Our store has done things differently every year. Some years they have everything out around midnight and we can get what we want and then wait until 5 to check out. Other years they have kept everything wrapped until 5. We were told that they favor letting us get the items as we come in and then check out at 5, because there is such a crowd and many fights have broken out when they wait until there's 1,000 people in the store for say, 15 of something. It has never stopped me from getting everything on my list there, but I prefer not waiting until everyone's there to unwrap pallets. My Mom got hit in the head one year for a portable dvd player, and my DD16 got bit one year trying to get the Gameboys.

Wal-Mart policy is to have all BF items palletized and wrapped until 5am Friday. There will be associates guarding the pallets until that time (to prevent the usual fights over who got what first). We're a supercenter and it's been that way for the 4 years we've been open.

I can tell you walking around Walmart tonight, there were a few items I saw sitting out already..I think it's interesting that this year,Walmart seemed to go with some BF items that are currently stocked at a regular price.I honestly can't see how if you're in the store and the stuff is just sitting there, why you couldn't pick it up and put it in your cart,as long as it wasn't wrapped in black wrap and guarded..

Be careful also. They often have special packaging on some of the BF items, especially toys, and if its not in the special package with the special UPC, they will not sell it at that price. I remember the IDogs a couple of years ago being that way. They had some in the regular place on the floor, but the BF ones were on a pallet near the groceries!

Our super walmart has all of the big ticket items wrapped in black plastic, along with many of the other blitz items. We are not allowed to even TOUCH the toys (which aren't wrapped in plastic) or else there will be an associate yelling. We were allowed to put the clothing items in our cart as soon as they brought them out, but nothing else. Each section had many associates standing watch!
