Not a bad deal with free shipping... one less thing for me to buy on BF. :D

Not disputing that this is a decent price, but remember that it is a Class 4 (slower) card and not a Class 6 or faster SDHC card. If you want to capture video with your camera or offload your images to your computer faster, a Class 6 card is a better choice.

I wonder how long this deal is good for? I need one for the Wii too.

The Wii will not work with a SD card beyond 2GB. It is not compatible with SDHC cards (those larger than 4GB).

For a 2GB card, this is good choice: Kingston 2GB SD card for $6.49 shipped:

Thank you for letting me know! It wouldn't have a been a big deal because I do have a 2 GB and wouldn't mind an 8 GB for my camera so it wouldn't have been a total loss but I would still rather just buy a 2 GB for the Wii and save some money.

Whether your camera can use the new 8GB SDHC card depends on how old your digital camera is:

"Standard SD card capacities range from 4 MB to 8 GB, and for high capacity SDHC cards from 4 GB to 64 GB as of 2008.

The format has proven to be very popular. However, a change in the format, while allowing capacities greater than 4 GB (SDHC), has created compatibility issues with older devices which cannot read the new format. Since SDHC format cards have the same physical shape and form factor as the older format, this has caused considerable confusion for consumers.[2][3] SDHC cards require an SDHC capable device firmware, generally not found with older devices."

I am new to this and don't know anything about electronics, I just bought a Wii for Christmas for my daughters, and need to know why do you need an sd card and when do you need it, is it essential that you have it?

The Wii will use the SD card to save things such as high scores, the Mii characters (those little "personalities") and games you may download from the Wii store (downloaded through the Wii Channel on your Wii system).

I just bought a new Canon in Sept and have a 4 GB card that works just fine in it, I would think an 8 GB would be okay too but I guess I don't really know for sure. Either way I am going to get that Kingston 2 GB card that you posted. Is that a normal price for it or is it on sale right now?

From that same Wikipedia article:

"Standard SD card capacities range from 4 MB to 8 GB, and for high capacity SDHC cards from 4 GB to 64 GB as of 2008."

So, it's quite possible that the 4GB card you have is a standard SD card. If you have it handy, SDHC cards have a SDHC logo right on 'em, like this:

Somewhere in that range is the standard price for a 2GB card. If you look around, you might find one for $5.00 shipped, but how much is your time worth? Newegg is a reliable seller -- no worries about shenanigans. :yup:

Oh SDHC is different from a standard, I do believe my 4GB is a standard one.

Really? $5 shipped for a 2GB card? I thought that the $6.49 was an awesome price!

What kinds of games can you download from the Wii store? How much do those cost?

The are the games from the older Nintendo Gamecube system. Super Mario Brothers, Luigi's Mansion, that sort of thing. I have no idea the cost, I've never bought one.

They do require a classic wired controller(s). You can either use controllers from a retired Gamecube or you can buy Wii (white) colored ones.

Nintendo doesn't accept a credit card over the Wii Shop channel -- you have to buy a Wii points card: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wii_Points

And you are going to want to get your Wii hooked up to your computer's router to even do this. ;)

Thanks Marcster for the tips... now i'm wondering if my Cannon will be able to use it..... if not, it will be the perfect way to have another back-up for my a lot of my music library for cheap....

Or an excuse to upgrade your camera! ;)
