Deal Grabber Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 WOW thats a great price for these.I bought this same set from KBToys a few years ago. Paid alot more than $49 for them. Anyways, it really is a very nice set.Has held up great over the years.Nice thick pieces of wood.To me just as good as lincoln logs.Well worth every penny. My sons 12 and still plays with them sometimes.LOL.
busybeex3 Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Awesome deal. Thanks for posting that. My son loves his Lincoln Logs and this is a great price...woohoo.
nindy8 Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 I bought this and already received it, is it plastic though? I didn't open the bags to see but they look like plastic. It doesn't say anywhere on it what they are made of. I don't want to open the bag because the box is tore and they will spill out. Also, I noticed the price reduction and emailed them to give me the difference and they did. They are great to deal with, I love Kbtoys!!
MidwestMama Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 In the product description is says "Includes more than 500 plastic logs in small, medium and large sizes." yet in all feedback it sounds as if they are wooden... Can you clarify which it is? I am thinking of buying 2 sets, but not sure how big these are... do they come in something the size of a bathroom garbage can, smaller, bigger??? Trying to keep in mind storage.
nindy8 Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 The box is this size: 20.1" x 18.4" x 5.5" I think they would fill up half of a kitchen garbage can, definitely at least 3 small bathroom cans they are quite heavy as well
MidwestMama Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 I see that there is a free Family Fun magazine subscription or you can get the refund $9.97 with a purchase of $35. I am seriously considering getting 2 sets of these... but I KNOW DH will flip on me! He wants no more toys. But he's an engineer, perhaps he would enjoy building with them!
MidwestMama Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 SGPET5 is coupon for $5 off $39.99 too, but I haven't tried it
nindy8 Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Code: KBNLTR Discount: $5 OFF $40 EXP UNKNOWN i used this and it worked
bargaingal2 Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 (edited) Thanks this is a gift to my mom (grandma) from the grandkids as they love to play with the tinker toys they got her last year so they are going to give it to her for christmas for when they come over. MidwestMama Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 I feel like I have hijacked this thread, I apologize but BOY do I wish I could see these... They have to be shipped back to be returned, KB doesn't accept them... Are they thin hollow plastic that will break when stepped on? I have my cart all ready to go, but I am not sure now.
busybeex3 Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 You can order these through Amazon too so if you go and read the reviews on there, it might help you....one review states she found splinters on a few of her logs (which would make you think wood) and then the next reviewer states these are just like the new plastic lincoln logs (good quality) and that their kids love them. Not sure what to tell you other than I think they are probably pretty good quality (as they weigh a good bit and people on the reviews have recommended getting a rubbermaid-type storage container on wheels for them.) I ordered a set today and am keeping my fingers crossed that A) there's no lead in them and they really are a good quality set for my son and daughter to play with.
MidwestMama Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 (edited) Me again... the reviews on Amazon.com eased my mind I ordered 2 sets $29.98+ the Pit Crew Tool Kit $9.99+ a refill for our bug maker $4.99 Using the code given above -$5, the BML refund of $15 and the magazine refund of $9.97 My total in the end will be $14.99 shipped. I couldn't refuse. Edited November 22, 2008 by MidwestMama
shanni Posted November 22, 2008 Author Posted November 22, 2008 Change the shipping it is on, it doesn't select the free shipping as default
jlk6497 Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 it tells me the logs do not apply for free shipping
shanni Posted November 22, 2008 Author Posted November 22, 2008 They took the free shipping off it.........

MidwestMama Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Now I am nervous... I never catch the good deals and when I do, they get cancelled! I hope they don't go undo the orders over the shipping change now!
shanni Posted November 22, 2008 Author Posted November 22, 2008 I doubt it, this has been free shipping for over 2 weeks now
smileybillie Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Did you read the last review it says it is made in china and tested for lead.
shanni Posted November 22, 2008 Author Posted November 22, 2008 1 out of every 10 toy products test positive for lead, it would depend on the level of lead in the product which you can only find out by using those xray guns. That is why blood testing for lead should be done every year for children under 6.

I contacted the company and did research. NO LEAD Just becuase someone said it on the internet doesn't mean it's true. http://***********************/showthread.php?threadid=1020023

Definitely NOT real wood. Might be composite wood? If not, then it's plastic. All in all, a real nice set that my kids (and others) are going to love playing with. Not quite the same as the Lincoln Logs of my youth but a great deal nonetheless. EDIT: Stopped by TRUs to pick up a couple of things and checked out "real" Lincoln Logs while I was there. They seem to be comparable to the Yukon Logs. Maybe I'm just not familiar with what wood feels like?
2peaches Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 I am getting $9.xx for shipping. Any free shipping codes??
MidwestMama Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 I just got these today. I am impressed! The logs aren't plastic. In fact, the only plastic was the packaging, the roof pieces are wood, the chimneys are wood, etc... There are a lot of bigger logs too, I hate it when you only have the little small logs. I bought 2 sets and think I'll keep both for my boys (thought I could give one set to nephew) I think it'd be fun to build with a ton of them for my boys and my SIL might not like me giving her child a 700 piece set! It is not packaged nicely, in fact some of the logs were loose in the shipping box having broken out of their bag AND box! But I will just figure out whatever we are going to store them in and put them in it anyways. I also got this pit crew set http://www.etoys.com/Pit-Crew-Air-Co...7/INstock/Y/D/ It is cute. Not heavyweight toy but cute and when you squeeze one of the tools it lights up and spins the silver glitter inside. Nephew will LOVE this. The air compressor opens up to store the tools inside.
