I would suggest reading the reviews before buying. Most very complaints about the

negatives of this vacuum..too heavy doesn't clean well, noisy etc'

When buying a vaccuum I never thought about the weight of one until years ago I decided to "upgrade" from the cheap vacuum I bought for my first apartment. I went and bought one with all the gadgets on it. And it was so heavy I hated it! It wasn't any better than my apartment vac either.

So now I have an Oreck and love it. light weight and cleans very good!
