I will go if there is something that I want in the ad, but it is a 45 minute drive to Kmart or Meijer's for me, so it has to be a really good deal. I do go to Walmart after leaving my parent's house though, cause our's hands out store maps for BF then :) Helps me plan my 'attack' LOL ;)

The only place that I know of that is open on Thanksgiving is Kmart. I do recall my wife and my mother-in-law going there a few years ago when they first started this trend and only bought one or two things. Last year, we stopped at CVS to pick up a few things so that we could wait in line at other places.

I went to kmart on thanksgiving i think it was 2 years ago and got some good buys on board games, but i usually dont go, However, the local walmart is going to be open on thanksgiving this year which is new for my area, so if they have something worth going after, ill be there

I hope that's nationwide. Our Walmarts are usually crowded and I get a lot of gifts there, it would be nice to save BF for the smaller shops!

DH and I usually go to KMart on Thanksgiving Day, although we did not go last year.

DMIL has always hosted Thanksgiving, which makes it easy enough for us to go shopping either before or after the "big meal".

This year, there is a very slight chance that we may have everyone over to our house, which would mean definitely no shopping trips...

But we will see...:)

Meijer usually has a better Thanksgiving Day only ad than the BF ad for the day after. Our Meijer was wild Thanksgiving morning at 3:30 AM when I arrived. I drove 20 miles and passed 1 car on the interstate, so I thought things would be quiet. The parking lot was 75% full with 2 TV stations inside doing stories about the crowds when I arrived. The front registers were mobbed at 6:00 when the prices kicked in.

KMart usually has a video game or 2 worth trying to buy. Big Lots has an ad too. Garden Ridge is also open with a nonstop 24 hour sale that day. Wal Marts here only close from 6 Christmas Eve until 6 the day after Christmas, but they have no ad.

I am usually solo on Thanksgiving morning, then the family gets involved on BF.

We usually pull into GF early afternoon of Thanksgiving and stop at Kmart before we even check into the hotel. We look around for anyother store open and I think I spent a bundle at Target on the Thursday last year. We check into room and start going through the ads; then we go for a huge buffet (can't remember name)

restuarant in GF), go to casino for short time and to bed by 9pm (or through the ads again)

I went to Big Lots probably two years ago for a tool set that my Dad just had to have. It was the most depressing shopping trip ever! There were a few people there and they had Christmas music and a dancing Santa, but no one was very happy to be there. I couldn't help feel badly for the cashiers who should be home with a turkey hangover, not ringing up sale items! I vowed never to do Christmas shopping on Thanksgiving ever again!

KMart at 8am .... gotta love it! Walked in 2 years ago and scored my Tickle Me Elmo! A whole pile of them by the front door. Actually, I started going the year that we hosted Thanksgiving dinner and while the turkey was cooking, we were finishing the vacuuming and the vacuum died. Off I went. Didn't care what the cost, just needed a vacuum - and there WAS one on sale! 10 years later, the vacuum still works.

These days, it's usually for board games and CDs/movies.

KMART - Last year I think I got a 32" LCD for about $419. They always have good deals. You have to get out there early if you want a hard to find item.

I go every year. Get out there about 3am, bring a chair, hot cocoa, and a protable DVD PLAYER w/ extra battery (or get by a socket) with a couple movies and your good to go. Maybe a blanket if it is real cold. :D

Now that Sears bought Kmart, will Kmart still have the deals? Our Kmart looks just like a Sears, with washers, frigs, and stoves in the front. You only feel like you are in Kmart towards the back of the store. I might make a trip as there seems very few people want to head out on Thanksgiving morning.

We eat @ MIL around 2, I'm responsible for bringing the ads! Later we go to my niece's for dessert and leave the guys with the kids while we ladies go to Kmart and sometines Walmart.

We started this around 8 yrs ago.

My brother past away last yr in May and I wasn't in my BF shopping mode even with DH offering to go and do all the driving, we didn't do Kmart on TG either. I know this year is going to be even worse My mom passed away in July Guess we will just have to play it by ear and see how everyone is coping.

I'm already shopping and have gotten my great neice and 2 great nephews small beginner MP3 players online so that's 3 presents down and know what I'm going to get the 3 smaller ones just trying to decide if I want to wait to see if it goes on sale or not.

Hope there are some really good deals starting soon!
