mrn8 Posted May 2, 2005 Posted May 2, 2005 Might not be a bad headset to use w/Skype, if you are using a PPC w/bluetooth.
Brad Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 Actually Class 1 has a range of around 100m (300 feet) and Class 2 is around 10m (30 feet). Obviously for something like this there is no need for the increased range of a Class 1 device as you will not typically be over 30 feet from your phone when using this headset.
jamesave Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 http://www.tech-faq.com/bluetooth.shtml Here is the breakdown based on the above link: (the second column denotes power)Class 3 Devices: 100mW: Up to 100 metersClass 2 Devices: 10mW: Up to 10 metersClass 1 Devices: 1mW: 0.1-10 meters
Brad Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 another link showing the opposite, lol http://www.palowireless.com/infotooth/knowbase/general/10.asp Class 1 100mW 20dBm 100m Class 2 2.5mW 4dBm 10m Class 3 1mW 0dBm 10cm and another: http://www.howardforums.com/archive/topic/567702-1.html
jamesave Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 lol http://trifinite.org/trifinite_stuff_lds.html the above link even show that with a directional antenna, the range for a class 2 can actually goes up to 1.08 miles. yup. from 10 m to 1.78km! (got the above link from wikipedia)
Brad Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 lol. well either way, the range doesn't really matter for this item, since you will most likely using it a few feet from your phone at the max, and your phone probably has a small range itself.
