darkchaostitan
I need a couple of good cards for an SLI, but I don't want any of the cheap XFX stuff and other such as you always see roaming around. Is there anything on the 8800 ultra that anyone knows about. I'm not looking to run Crysis on high here, but I want some decent performance. Also I have a nagging friend who won't stop telling me to invest in the the 9 series, but I'm really not sure how well they perform, if anyone could give me their opinion of it's use in comparison to the previous generation it'd be greatly appreciated. It seems more prototype though than anything to factor in a steady performance. Above all I'd like to know if there are any deals on the 8800 ultra or GTS out there that are worth investment. A preferable brand for me would be eVGA, I was told to buy nothing but, however I'm sure that there's equal or greater performance out there eVGA just seems rock solid I guess. Thanks again, and all help is greatly appreciated.
laddhorn
As for the nagging friend, here is a link that may help you decide that answer.... http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/graphics-cards,1942-5.html They have lots of reviews/comparisons to help you choose which items will work better for you. darkchaostitan
Besides the clock speed there really isn't much of a difference between the 9600 and the 8800GT performance. And that's coming from one of the cheapest cards. Thx, but is there any deals floating around for a 8800 GTS or Ultra? Thx for the help. Also I'd consider using SLI for 2 8800 GTs if there's a good price on a eVGA brand.
laddhorn
PNY brand 8800 GTS at Newegg.com for 127.58 using Pricewatch.com. eVGA 8800GTS at TigerDirect.com for 229.74 (I think they own CompUSA now) Newegg is $2 more eVGA 9800 GTX (comparable to the 8800gts) is 207.xx at NewEgg. Save yourself $20+ per card with the same performance. You also make your nagging friend happy. Also allows for -3- in SLI with the right Mobo. darkchaostitan
Plus I heard the PNY brand isn't even worth the investment. The eVGA's a tempting offer though.
