mahyar1 Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Horrible deal, with that price you can get a much better laptop.
gezzmom70 Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 I agree. This laptop is trying to run Vista on a Celeron processor and 1GB of RAM. It will freeze up more than it will work. For roughly the same price, you can at least get one with a dual core processor, though you may need to add some RAM yourself.
oneannm Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Horrible deal, with that price you can get a much better laptop.Could you point out a better deal? Thanks
Cinnamonhuskies Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 you're all are right. I got a Dell with Intel Duo Core and 2 gig ram for $550 last month. AND I could get it with either XP or Vista...I wanted XP....ordered it from their site.
mahyar1 Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Could you point out a better deal?ThanksI don't need to point that out. Look for Dell deals. As someone mentioned above with this price you can get a faster computer, more ram, more HD. One more thing Acers aren't good at all, I work at Best Buy and Acers always have problems. So if you want to waste your money on a cheap made and a slow computer, then that's your choice
gezzmom70 Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 (edited) Could you point out a better deal?ThanksYep. You might try this one from Best Buy: Compaq - Presario T2330 Laptop Model: C751NR | SKU: 8661897 Sale:$449.99http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s51/suffer70/acer-cc.jpgProduct Features:Intel® Pentium® 1.6GHz Dual-Core mobile processor1GB DDR2 RAM, expandable to 2GB Multiformat DVD±RW/CD-RW drive with double-layer support15.4" WXGA high-definition LCD widescreen display120GB Serial ATA hard drive (5400 rpm) 3 high-speed USB 2.0 portsBuilt-in high-speed wireless LAN (802.11b/g) Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium EditionOr, for $50 more, you could get the same laptop in this bundle:Compaq Presario C751NR Laptop with 3-in-1 Printer & Antivirus Software InstalledSKU: 999986600050001 Our Price:$499.99http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s51/suffer70/compaq-bb.jpg Features:Compaq Presario C751NR LaptopHP Deskjet all-in-one printer, copier and scanner with Smart Web printing and scanning technology to restore old and damaged photos Trend Micro AntiVirus 2008 precinct software to protect your computer against Internet threats; includes installation by Geek Squad® Any similar deal would be good. I would add at least another 1GB of RAM, which is pretty cheap. At 1.6GHz, this isn't the fastest dual-core out there, but it is a much better processor than the one in the OP. hth Edited March 14, 2008 by gezzmom70
blued79 Posted March 14, 2008 Author Posted March 14, 2008 Could you point out a better deal?ThanksThis one is a good deal. For 399.00, shipping is included. You also have the option of getting either Vista or XP. If you get Vista, make sure you go for the bigger memory size. Otherwise, it should run okay on XP for the cheapest price. http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/vostronb_1000?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd&~tab=bundlestab&URL=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dell.com%2Fcontent%2Fproducts%2Fproductdetails.aspx%2Fvostronb_1000%3Fc%3Dus%26cs%3D04%26l%3Den%26s%3Dbsd%26%7Etab%3Dbundlestab

This is a good option to run XP at the base price, though I would still recommend adding some RAM if you plan to multi-task. If you want to run Vista, you should upgrade the processor to the dual-core option and definitely add RAM. Still an excellent deal either way.
