Looks like it comes with the base unit and one handset (which charges in the base). Both the base and handset can be used to make calls. Additional handsets (with chargers) are available, but appear to be OOS at Amazon.

Nope - b and g works on the 2.4GHz frequency.

This version of the phone is safe, but I think the older version was 5.8GHz from the base and 2.4GHz back. You need to be careful if you are getting a 5.8 handset for network purposed, because a lot of them still work that way.
