Places to stay near the Cleveland Clinic?

Recommended Posts

A good friend of mine will be having surgery at the Cleveland Clinic next month. She needs a place for her dh to stay will she is there. She is unfamiliar with the area, so it is hard to know where to make reservations for him. She would prefer he be close by so he doesn't have to drive around an unfamiliar city alone and so he would be fairly close in case she needed him. She will probably be in an inpatient for 7 days (5 minimum). Anyone familiar enough with the area to give some good recommendations?? She thought she had found a place but the weeknights were $200+ each. yikes!!! She'd like to get reservations taken care of so it is one less thing to worry about. TIA!!!

you do have to be careful around the Clinic.... the whole clinic thing is safe but the surrounding area well not so hot. The clinic has a hotel but I'm sure it's really expensive... and then you get into downtown Clevleand and that's going to be pricy.. how far away... the further west you go it will be alot cheaper... I'm talking about 25-30 min but's it's highway and pretty simple.... let me think on this one too. Right now I'm thinking off 71 near/150th there are some hotels.... if you want to pm you can

I just arrived home from the Cleveland Clinic. My husband has been there for a week and a half already and will probably be there another week and a half. One night he was really critical and I did not want to be 50 miles away in case he took a turn for the worse. (Luckily he didn't take a turn for the worst, he should be out of ICU in a few days) So that night I stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel which is attached to the Clinic via a skywalk. It was $139 per night. Which for the upscale hotel it appeared to be that seemed a reasonable price.

I just pulled my Cleveland Clinic handbook and here are some hotels and phone numbers they have listed.

DOWNTOWN

Wyndam, 1260 Euclid Avenue (216) 241-7500 $$$ (Luxury rates)

Holiday Inn Lakeside, 1111 Lakeside Avenue (216) 241-5100 $$(moderate rate)

Best Hotel & Suites, 3614 Euclid Avenue (216) 361-8969 $ (economic)

SOUTH OF CLEVELAND

Red Roof Inn, Rockside Road, Independence, Exit Rt 77 (216) 447-0030

Holiday Inn South, Independence (216) 524-8050 $ (economical)

EAST OF CLEVELAND

Fairfield Inn at Interstate 90&91 (440) 975-9922

As the above poster stated, the Clinic itself is safe, however the adjoining neighborhoods are not the greatest.

One additional tip, the parking is going to cost $10.00 per day. If you go to the cashiers office by the cafteria, you can purchase parking passes. 5 coupons for $30.00 or 10 coupons for $40.00. This is definitly the way to go.

If you have any further questions, let me know and I will answer if I can. I am not from Cleveland, but have the spent the last week and half there and will be going again tomorrow.

My husband could still use prayers if anybody is willing to do that for me.

I just picked up a brochure in the ICU waiting room tonight. Hampton Inn $84.00 Cleveland Clinic rate. This includes the "On the House" hot breakfast and complimentary internet service. Breakfast items include scrambled eggs, sausage, french toast sticks and waffles. This is located on East 9th Street. (216) 241-6600.

I hope this helps. Good luck to your friend.

I lived about 8 miles from the Cleveland Clinic until a few months ago. Cleveland Clinic has a concierge service that will help their patients find hotels!!!! Just go to their website and search for it.

I have an idea...if your friend gives me a list of hotels she finds on Travelocity or something for under $75, I can tell her what the best deals are.

I would not recommend hotels in downtown Cleveland- it is pretty safe but expensive to park. Tell your friend to be very careful around the Cleveland Clinic. I believe there is a hotel attached to it. That hotel might be a great idea, because if I am right it is attached by an indoor tunnel.

Try to avoid anywhere on the east side of Cleveland. They are struggling with crime rates. Some east side suburbs to check out: Beachwood, Solon. Some west side places that are good and have low crime rates: Parma, some parts of Cleveland, some parts of Brook Park, Middleburgh Heights Berea (might be a little far to commute).

Good luck and I hope your friend is restored to health soon. I have been a patient of the Cleveland Clinic and they are fabulous.
