noehlp
This one, by far, is my favorite (in the $200-$400 range - looking there so the coupon can be used). Still looking, I love to browse jewelry. 1 CT. T.W. mikebone
Probably not the place for this, but I had a horrible experience at the Zales in the Staten Island Mall. I shopped around before last Valentines day because I wanted to get a diamond cross for my wife. There are about 7 jewelers in the Staten Island Mall. I kept looking at the same certified diamond cross in Zales. The salesgirl was very abrupt with me (I was 33 years old at the time, but look younger) so they get the impression that I can't afford what I am looking at. The cross was marked down to about $400 and the salesgirl told me it was also eligible for the brilliant buys promotion so it another $75 off. So, I left the store and looked one last time in one other store. When I went back, the salesgirl looked shocked to see me. She began to process the sale and then realized it was not eligible for the brilliant buy promotion. I then expected her to say let me speak to a manager and see what I can do. Instead, she told me I could look at something else that was half the price. I got pissed and told her I was insulted and that I already had a Zales credit card so I could afford to buy what I wanted. I bought a diamond cross in another jeweler. I sent an email to Zales customer service. I got an automated response and they said they would follow up with the store (which they never did). I have sent 3 emails over the past year or so and they all get returned unread. Sorry for the rant, but I feel a little better that I got that off my chest. Happy Holidays everyone!!! mikebone
On a more positive note, this is more my taste... 1/4 CT. T.W. Certified Colorless Diamond Heart Pendant in 14K White Gold ITEM #: 16719338 Orig.$579.00 Now$399.99 I prefer the certified diamonds. They seem to have alot more clarity to them. I don't 'know' diamonds. Don't know what the difference is between certified & uncertified, but it sounds like I would like the first one better. :)Now I will have to look again. I have 3 items of 'real' jewelry. Both are gold (2 rings & necklace), and 1 ring has the SMALLEST chips I have seen, but they are there. Actually the other ring, I bought last year or maybe the year before from a deal Zales had going on that I saw posted here on the site. I love it, and had the best experience with Zales. mikebone
I actually had 2 good experiences before the last one that I had. As far as the certified goes, you actually get a little card that has a picture of the piece and it tells you the exact grade of the diamonds in the piece. I got a thorough lesson in diamonds a couple of years ago before I got engaged. It was very worthwhile and I got a beautiful ring for my wife with the knowledge I received. I would post a pic but I do not know how to .
mom2monkiesx3
Yes I'd only get certified peices and KNOW what you are buying as far as size and clarity. Zales likes to use tiny diamonds in mounts that give the impression of a larger diamond....which looks really crappy upclose!! Please be careful and make sure you read Total carat weight and get to know a little about purchasing diamonds before buying. (Gosh my Stepdad would be proud, he sells diamonds to major cooperations and does custom diamond work Thank God or I'd never have the Shield/Kite cut diamond wedding ring of my dreams Which my kids call the "superman" diamond lol!!)
