shanni
http://promotions.newegg.com/paypal/101607/index.html?CMP=OTC-PayPalHoliday07&ATT=PayPal&cm_mmc=OTC-PayPalHoliday07-_-PayPal-_-B0-_-Paypal Also, the paypal rebate applies ONLY to items on this page, this isn't going to end well. Quite a few people bought gaming systems because of the 20% cash back offer. From another site Ordered the PS3 from Newegg, and had an issue with another order, so I live chated, and also asked (to be 110% certain) that the PS3 purchase would qualify for the PP 20% Cash Back. According to the Newegg rep, no. Only those specific items on the Newegg / Paypal webapge are eligible. All other purchases from the Egg are ineligible. Maybe my rep was misinformed. Cancelled my order anyway, and offering words of CAUTION to fellow SD'ers who may purchase items not on that webpage and ultimately not receive the 20% Cash Back. YMMV. From the chat log: Me: The PS3 for the PayPal 20%? Why not? What condition didn't I meet? Alice: You only can get the promotion if you purchase the item in the website that listed. Me: So, only those few items on that webpage are eligible for 20% PayPal discount at Newegg? And since PS3 not on that page, not eligible? Alice: Yes, you are right. However, if you would like to keep the item, we would like to make an exception to credit you $10.00 on your order.
Cannon1
Whew. And N.E. gets allot of repeat business. Hope this is isolated, it was low-ball that only certain items qualified, & causes me to think twice for next time. Also hope they didn't screw up my RockBand purchase a week ago. I'll have to chat tomorrow.
Flash
I ordered a camera early in the day, however when I talked with the live chat associate-she told me at first that everything on the site was eligible for 20% cash rebate. Then later told me that only specific items qualify for the cash back. I had to cancel my order because it didn't qualify. The specifics of this promotion wasn't clearly stated. The biggest problem determining if the 20% cash back was on all items or specific items. I thought if you made a purchase using paypal one would get the cash back. scrapwave
I couldn't find their details anywhere on their site yesterday when I was about to order some Wii games, so I ended up waiting to see if I could find out their requirements. Glad now I waited...I won't be ordering from them.

mcwalker
I placed an order for a Samsung 226BW monitor at 1:13 PM EST yesterday only because of the $50 I can get back through this offer. I received confirmations of the order and charge from both NewEgg and PayPal, but they made no reference whatsoever to the 20% cash back. I called both NewEgg and PayPal this morning to confirm and ask for some kind of written confirmation that I will receive the refund as promissed "by January 31, 2008." They both confirmed verbally that I qualified, but NewEgg refered me to PayPal and Paypal said that they do not have a means of sending me a confirmation (other than just sending me a copy of the rules). I am keeping all of my e-mails and electronic copies of the ad and rules. YOU are my "witnesses." If I don't see the money as promissed, I will report to the Better Business Bureau to resolve. (I used this recently and it works.) Nice promotion, but at least a little loose on the details and follow-through. Beware.

My biggest concern was once the order went through and I received confirmation for the purchase, 'no proof that one would receive the 20% cash back on purchase) After talking with the live chat associate, she told me it would be best to just cancel the order to be safe. This was after I told her I was only purchasing the item only if it qualifies for the cash back. Once she said the item did not qualify, it was canceled. You know how a company charges you for something and once you return an item or cancel it, the charges will continue to stay on your credit card for a several days. Well my credit card was charged one minute and the charges was gone the next. It was extremely fastI'm glad that you thought of the BBB. I hope you get your 20% cash back, please let us know the results
mcwalker
Not definitive enough!!Agreed, I am taking a "little" ($50) risk on this, but at least the monitor I ordered was included in the list, and everything written says I am entitled to the refund. Anyway, canceling your order was probably a prudent option. I will try to remember to report however the issue is finally resolved.

Nice promotion, but at least a little loose on the details and follow-through. Beware. I received notice from PayPal today that my account has been credited with $50. So anyone considering this offer, go for it.
