babsmac Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 DS (5) wants a Game Boy like his big cousin. I will get him one if I can find him a good deal. Is there any sales going on right now or Friday. I don't know the difference between a GBA GBA SP, DS Lite. I am so confused. I saw the Game Stop Coupon for the $19.99 GBA is that a good deal. Is it out of date? Will I be able to find games. Please help a video game challenged Mamma out!!!!! Babs
auntiem Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 That's a good deal for the nintendo game boy advance. I got one for my grtandson last year and paid $39 on black Friday. It will say on the games if it plays on the GBA. I think all of the game boy games play on it.
babsmac Posted November 18, 2007 Author Posted November 18, 2007 They are $19.99 used. I hope they are not trashed! Babs
shannon91c Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 I would spend the extra for a gameboy advance sp or a micro. The GBA is not backlit so you have to be in a well lit area to see or buy a light to put on it so they can see to play. The GBA plays all gameboy games, even the original GB/GB color games. The DS/DS lite can play all GBA/DS games but DS is only playable in the DS.The GBA sp also plays all GB games even the original GB games and the micro only plays GBA games. We have all 3 systems. They are gettinig DS for christmas.
tdw Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 go for a gmaeboy advance sp or gb micro. I have not seen any on deals this coming bf, but you never know. Got the micro last BF @WalMart for 39.99. Well worth my $$...
mtallen Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 I have a DS5 and I bought him a GBA SP for his birthday and he loves it. I would go for the sp too! HTH
theboyzmom Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 another vote for the SP...bought my son his 4 years ago and it's still great! it's backlit which is a biggie...and games are plentiful
noehlp Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 I agree. I suggest you get a Gameboy Advance SP, and do NOT get just the Gameboy Advance. I have added pictures to help make sure you distinguish the difference. The one on the left is just a Gameboy Advance. The one on the right is the Gameboy Advance SP. The GBA, does NOT have a back light screen, though you can buy a back light attachment. So when playing games, the room must be well lite or they won't be able to see the game. They are much older. The GBA SP has a lighted screen, and if I recall from the ones I have seen, you may be able to either turn the light off if you want. Can't confirm this though. This one also folds, this will help with preventing the screen getting broke.
elena_398 Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 My 7 year old daughter is getting a SP. Regular Gameboy is just too old of a system. Playing games is hard (lighting wise too). This is the first year though that the SP isn't on sale.... So glad I had a gift card to buy mine ($25 walmart GG).
