I HATE mail in Rebates

Just Me

Recommended Posts

CC has some nice looking deals this year but I swear I can't stand mail in rebates. It always seems to get fouled up or take forever to get the money. This is what ruins the CC deals for me and why I hit BB. I just don't like dealing with all the mail in rebates. I will see a deal and think wow nice the see MIR and totally be turned off. Anyone else with me on disliking MIR? If they didn't have them that would sooo be my first stop this year. I know they like them because of the high % of people who never send them in

Well, you're in luck this year. :)

Circuit City has really cut down on the amount of mail-in rebates, almost 90% (or more) of their stuff is mail-in-rebate-free. Check out the list we have available on the Black Friday site and you'll notice a "*" next to the items that require a rebate:

I promise all of you that Staples Easy Rebates are easy and Staples stand behind them 100%. They Easy rebates are just that and just entered online and do not have to mail anything in. Hardly ever is there a problem with these. If there is we back them 100% and guarantee your rebate.

True, but I also notice that many things that used to be free after rebate are now $5-10. I guess that's good for some people. Not for me.

I love mail-in rebates. As long as you are able to follow the directions when submitting your rebate, and able to follow-up if the rebate gets falsely rejected, then items with mail-in rebates end up being much cheaper than if there was no rebate at all. There's plenty of stuff to buy that's free after rebate, but when do you ever see anything on sale for free without a rebate?

I think the MIR'S are mostly a rip-off. I can't tell you how many times I've followed all their rules EXACTLY right to the letter & still (wrongly), get notifications that they can't honor it for some imagined reason. Usually I have to argue with them, do numerous calls & resend, resend & resend! I think they hope you'll just give up. It's just not worth the time & stress.

First of all, I never call. They get a letter that includes whatever "corrections" they said were necessary. In the letter I politely ask that they forward the rebate within 30 days and if they do not, a BBB complaint will be filed. Then I wait 30 days - if no rebate - complaint is filed (can be done online). That gets their attention. I collect them ALL :yup:

Depends on the rebate. I love grocery/beer company rebates. Almost never have a problem with those. But electronics? Geez, I don't think we've gotten more than half of them...there is always a problem, or else they just disappear and we never hear anything no matter how many times we call or email!

There should have been a link to the rebate form in the email from CC.com with your order.
