Can anyone explain to me why these cards are so expensive?

It's surprisingly something that kids and some adults are still in to. And the manufacture knows that parents will buy them for their kids.

We asked (on DH's fave forum) and people mailed us their commons for free. That is how the kids play. plenty of cards to assemble balanced (if less than spectacular) decks

I was wondering this too. My daughter loves Pokemon and want cards too. I just can't see paying what they are going for. She doesn't care about which ones have the right powers or which ones are rare, she just likes them.:)
