Updated forecast from the National Weather Service in Dallas, Texas

 

Today...Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the morning...then mostly sunny with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs around 70. West winds 10 to 15 mph shifting to the northwest 15 to 20 mph with gusts to around 30 mph in the afternoon. Chance of rain 30 percent.

 

Tonight...Mostly clear. Much colder. Lows in the upper 30s. North winds 10 to 20 mph. Gusts up to 30 mph in the evening.

 

Thanksgiving Day...Mostly sunny in the morning then becoming mostly cloudy. Cooler. Highs around 50. North winds 10 to 15 mph.

 

Thursday Night...Mostly cloudy. A slight chance of light rain in the evening...then a slight chance of light rain...light snow flurries and very light sleet after midnight. Lows in the upper 30s. North winds around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation 20 percent.

...DRAMATIC WEATHER CHANGES ARE IN STORE...

 

A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH NORTH TEXAS TODAY AND PUT AN

END TO THE EXTENDED PERIOD OF UNSEASONABLY WARM WEATHER. BEHIND THE

FRONT...NORTHERLY WINDS WILL INCREASE TO AROUND 20 MPH...WITH GUSTS

UP TO 30 MPH POSSIBLE. TEMPERATURES WILL FALL INTO THE 50S BY THIS

AFTERNOON...WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES TODAY ACROSS MUCH OF NORTH TEXAS

OCCURRING IN THE MORNING HOURS.

 

TEMPERATURES TONIGHT WILL FALL INTO THE 30S ACROSS ALL OF NORTH

TEXAS...WITH LOCATIONS ALONG AND TO THE NORTHWEST OF A COMANCHE...TO

WEATHERFORD...TO SHERMAN LINE FALLING TO 32 DEGREES OR LESS. THIS

WILL BE THE FIRST FREEZE FOR THIS AREA AND A FREEZE WARNING FOR

NORTHWESTERN PARTS OF NORTH TEXAS WILL LIKELY BE ISSUED LATER TODAY.

 

THANKSGIVING DAY WILL BE COLD AND BREEZY WITH WIND CHILL READINGS IN

THE 20S AND 30S. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE IN THE 40S AND 50S ACROSS

ALL OF NORTH TEXAS...WITH INCREASING CLOUDS AHEAD OF AN UPPER LEVEL

DISTURBANCE. THIS UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE WILL CAUSE LIGHT RAIN TO

BREAK OUT THURSDAY EVENING...WITH THE ATMOSPHERE COLD ENOUGH FOR

SOME LIGHT SNOW OR SLEET TO MIX IN AFTER MIDNIGHT. SURFACE

TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN ABOVE FREEZING ACROSS NORTH

TEXAS...AND THEREFORE NO ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED.

 

A STRONG UPPER LEVEL STORM SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO CROSS OVER THE

REGION THIS WEEKEND AND RESULT IN GOOD CHANCES OF RAIN.

TEMPERATURES WILL BE IN THE 30S AND 40S...AND THERE IS SOME

POSSIBILITY OF WINTRY PRECIPITATION ACROSS NORTH TEXAS ON SUNDAY

BEFORE THE EVENT COMES TO AN END.

 

NORTH TEXAS RESIDENTS...ESPECIALLY THOSE TRAVELING TO LOCATIONS IN

WEST TEXAS WHERE SIGNIFICANT WINTRY PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED...ARE

URGED TO MONITOR LOCAL RADIO...TV...NOAA WEATHER RADIO...OR

WEATHER.GOV FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AND REFINED FORECASTS.

Here is the difference in forecast low temperatures from normal averages for Thanksgiving day. Colder in parts of the west, warmer in much of the east.

 

Note that these are automatically updating each day, so on Thanksgiving, this will show BF forecast.

Here in socal the lows are supposed to be in the high 40's, and as silly as this sounds that might be enough to keep people away. People around here are not used to anything under 60 and are the biggest weather wimps I've ever seen. I can't remember the last time it was in the 40's...and I guarantee people weren't outside when it was. I would be willing to bet that people in our line will be dressed heavier than people in lines where the temp is 20 degrees cooler.

Oakland, CA -- It's going to be a beautiful shopping day here! "Sunny, with a high near 66. North northwest wind between 5 and 8 mph." Thanksgiving night will be clear with a low of 45, for any of you planning on getting in lines around the Bay Area. Dress warmly and get lots of deals! Good luck and be careful out there!
