Last Years $68.00 TV

Well, the 20" TV I bought 7 years ago on BF just went out. It might have been the TV, or the terrible thunderstorm that rolled through the area. Funny how only that TV and our cordless phones were affected. No other electronic item(s) were damaged.

Hmmmm....

One other thing -

I was just looking through the .pdf file ad from Walmart last year, and I was comparing the LCD tvs.

Today's ad had a Vizio 32" LCD HDTV for $597 - last BF, same (type) of TV was $598. I don't think they were the same brand though. Also, the Vizio 42" LCD HDTV in today's ad is $946, and on BF, the advertised 42" LCD TV was $988. I wonder if technology has just improved THAT much in less than a year, or if Vizio is a piece of cr@p.

Our TV news just did 2 segments on no-name/off brand LCD'S. They're calling them "Throw-Away TV'S" The reason is cause they're so new, that they don't have the parts to replace on them. They recommend not buying them at all, or if you do, purchase an extended warranty, after you've read all the fine print.

Consumer reports just did a comparo that included the vizio's as well, basically not top of line, but not complete junk either, kind of a you get a little bit more than what you expect for supercheap was how I read it.

We have purchased 2 Vizio's over the past 2 years and love them. We have not had any problems with them. I realize they are not top of the line but HDTV looks great on them. Absolutely great bang for the buck! :yup:

Vizio is one of the top selling brands. Do your research. If you want to pay too much for a tv because you have not done your homework go right ahead. I got mine at Costco & they extend the warranty to 2 years at no extra charge. Vizio is sold at Costco, probably Sams, Walmart, KMart, Circuit City & Sears.

If any electronic item is going bad in less than a year, check your manufacturers or store warranty. Sometimes they aren't worth the trouble, but sometimes you can get some relief. Also, if you bought an item with AmEx or some other credit cards, they sometimes offer a warranty extension.

For anyone about to buy any electronic item (and many other items). 1. Keep your warranties in a file, 2. Keep your receipts for the duration of the warranty (plus any credit card extensions) in the same file, 3. check your credit cards to determine which include automatic extension of warranties and consider using those cards for purchases.

I wanted to let everyone know that we bought this last year and about a month ago the color started going out.

Maybe we just got a bad one! If not, save your money! It's not worth it!

What brand was it?

You should still be under Parts warranty. Labor warranty is only 90 days, but parts is a year. usually 2 years on the picture tube.
