fierymyst
I am looking for a digital camera for my 12yr old's upcoming birthday. Here are the features I am looking for: *Sturdy *Under $200 *Rechargeable Battery (preferred) *SD card (so we can share) *Small and compact *Good quality I am more looking for recommendations of cameras more than where to find the best priced one (though I would love to know), I just can't seem to find any I like. I have a Canon SD600 that I love and would love something of that quality for her. thanks for any help!!
Sugar&Spice
I was looking around at Christmas time for a camera for my teen because I knew she was going on a trip to Europe this summer. I ended up getting her a Kodak C743. She loves it and she got some awesome pics on her trip. http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=9571&CID=AFL-G8Q873569205&CTGY=C743&pq-locale=en_US&_requestid=13724 I also used this site when researching: http://www.imaging-resource.com/DIGCAM01.HTM
Fishboysmom
I would check out Amazon.com. You can choose how many mega pixels you want, optical zoom, price, etc. Then you can look at all the reviews. HTH
fierymyst
Thank you both, i will look at the Kodak and I definitely use amazon.com, it is so handy with reviews and information. I think I like the sony cybershot so far.... Any opinions on this one? http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Cybershot-DSCW55-Digital-Optical/dp/B000M4J2N0/re
Sugar&Spice
I have a Cybershot but it is a different model (DSC-P150). It is OK but I would not give it the highest marks for quality pics. Also, mine uses the Memory Stick Pro rather than the SD card, so if I'd check that out for sure since you said you wanted to share memory cards. braggsalot
I have a FujiFilm E550 and I love it. I get quality photos and it can grow with you. I have had mine for two years now and I have had no problems with it at all. http://www.amazon.com/Remanufactured-Fujifilm-Finepix-E550-Digital/dp/B000BNQ820/ref=sr_1_23/103-5230204-9655843?ie=UTF8&s=photo&qid=1188616964&sr=1-
fierymyst
I am still leaning towards the Cybershot but would love to hear more about it. Husband said it was ok if it didn't have the same memory card, we can work around that. I couldn't find a FujiFilm current version that matched yours, any other suggestions? fierymyst
Just wanted to update everyone, I saw the ads today and went with this camera: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8469221&type=product&id=1184768166234 I haven't found a lot of reviews and it may not be the best one out there but it has a rechargeable battery, sd card and will be easy for her to use. Plus the price was right!! Let me know if you have had a horrible experience with it please. I have 14 days to return it and 24 til her birthday.... ponycal
Good luck with your new camera. I didn't see your post until just now and clicked on the link to see what you got but it said link not found. Yesterday I bought my daughter the pink Sony Cybershot like the one that you were looking at. I got it at Staples and it came with a 1 gb free memory card and a free printer after rebate. It started out at 199 but I used 4 coupons on it so it brought the price even lower plus the free stuff of course . My daughter researched it and it got a lot of great reviews. I hope you got a good deal too!

fierymyst
Kodak EasyShare 7.1-Megapixel Digital Camera - Brown Model: C763 this is the camera I bought. ponycal: what coupons? I still like that camera and if I could get the right price would still consider it. maryannemomto4: luckily we have a card reader and that works fine with it, but thanks for the heads up!
