How long do you stay out on Black Friday?

Dh and I were talking to some friends who just moved here (Texas) from Michigan. I use to go shopping with the wife when I lived up there and we were telling the guys we use to stay out from 11 PM on Thursday until about 9 or 10 PM on Friday. They laughed and told us we exaggerated and NO ONE could shop that long! LOL! They haven't met people on this board then.

So how long do you normally stay out shopping on Black Friday?

I think it all depends on what the stores have to offer that year. If there's alot more stores that I need to hit up, then I'll be out later and vice versa. I'd say that typically we're done in the early evening around 5pm or so. Sometimes earlier.

Unless we plan on going to Best Buy, we are normally out of the house by 3 or 4 am, and usually make it home by 1 pm. Most years, we take a nap and then go out for more shopping (non-doorbuster items and items that don't sell out quickly). Normally, I don't get any sleep on Thanksgiving night, so if I don't get that nap in the afternoon on BF, you don't want to be around me :fryingpan.

usually from about 3 am until 9pm. But we have to drive about an hour to another town after Walmart. Our town only has a Walmart, no other good stores. Then we go another town over if we don't find everything we are after. It makes for a looooong day, but we LOVE it! :)

If I'm not going to BB or CC to get big items, I leave around 3 or 4 a.m. I am out until I get all the items I set out to get or until I'm too tired to go anymore. Usually around 3 in the afternoon. I usually stop somewhere for a good "late" lunch and head home to crash, literally!

Last year was messed up - we were out at 3:00 am at Wal-Mart, then we headed over to Target right when they opened the doors (since Wal-Mart wouldn't match until Target opened). Well after Target my van started messing up, we stopped by Chick-Fil-A to redeem our free sandwich coupons given out that morning, and then my van conked out for good. My tranny went out on BF and I had to have it towed home. I was so bummed we didn't go out anymore that day. I did alright though at Wal-Mart and Target before that disaster.

This year if all goes well we will be out like in years past. Out early depending on which store and then we pick up my grandma later in the morning and shop some more with her. We don't get back until probably around dinner time.

Wow, you guys are hard core. I only THOUGHT I was a black friday shopper. I start at 3 am, but some years I have been back in my cozy bed by 7:30 am. Last year we went out of town to shop, so we had some travel time and we were still back by noon.

I love to shop black friday as much as the next guy, but my pocket book gets a bit empty well before your apparently. :D Even if I had the stamina (which I don't) there's no way I could afford to buy everything.

Which leads me to my next question, how much do you spend on Black Friday? I usually keep it well under $300. But then, I don't really rely much on Black Friday for my overall Christmas budget. Usually I've bought most of the Christmas presents well before that time at various sales - and just use black friday to finish my Christmas shopping up.

I leave my house around 11:30 pm now that the Premium Outlet here opens at midnight. I get zeros sleep. Then I meet up with othrs around 3:30ish am. Depending on when I have to be home for hubby to go to work, usually 2pmish. Altho this year he is with a diff company, so I'm hoping I wont have to be back until 4 :)

Last year we were at Walmart by 1am it was like a ghost town lol (a 24 hour super walmart) we went through the store getting our ad match items and literally just "hung out" waiting for people to show up. Employees started bringing out pallets around 3ish we asked what was on which pallet and they told us. When we had everything we needed we stood by the pallet we wanted and waited. The store started geting really busy around 5ish. When the plastic came off we grabbed what we needed and headed to the electronics register to check out. Took me less than 5 minutes in line. Then we were off to our next stop. We usually get home around 12ish, take a quick nap then we all go and pick out the Christmas tree. It is cut down and put up by that evening. Then I crash!!!!!

We are out the door at 3am since we go to a different town about 30 minutes from home. We usually are shopping until 3pm or so. I budget about $600 to spend. I have to save some energy for Sat too since we get up early and hit Joann Fabrics for the BIG fleece sale.

Ok...just talking about this is getting me excited and it's only August. :g_dance:

Last year I went to the outlet mall, so we headed out at 10pm Thursday, and my cousin and I didn't stop until about 3 or 4pm Friday!! It was crazy -- we both were about to fall over. The others dropped off much earlier than that - like before noon.

Not sure if I'll do the outlet mall again or not. If not I usually leave the house around 3-4am and back around 3-4pm --- ok putting it in writing makes me see how crazy it is!! lol!! :eyepoppin
