jeninpa Posted August 16, 2007 Author Posted August 16, 2007 I have bought this brand several times before and had no problems. It is a very well known brand so I don't quite understand the question about who makes it? I have the same exact pack right now except I have the TDK DVD+R's and have went through about 60 of my 100 pack with no problems at all. I was curious so I downloaded it and popped in a disc and it said Ritek R05-001 was the manufacturer. I don't know where it tells you the quality? I purchased this 100pk at amazon.com for $26.99 w/free shipping: http://www.amazon.com/TDK-Electronics-DVD%2BR47FCB100-Single-Sided-Spindle/dp/B0009RKL62/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/002-5355592-7229617?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1187237259&sr=8-1 HTH!
naurto555 Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm second link tells you. It's either 2nd or 3rd class which isn't bad. "Decent discs, though not perfect, about 80-95% success rate. These discs are not suggested for archival data or video masters. These are best suited for data that can be replaced easily, such as secondary backups or data/video distribution. In bulk, these tend to be less expensive than 1ST CLASS media."

Yes, a few have some slight scratches, but look like they should play.
lisamag Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 i've never tried a 16X how well do they work? i use the 4X and they work good but i was given a 50 of 8X and none of them would play on any dvd player or even on the comps. so i'm wondering if i'll havethe same problem with these? it looks like a great deal and i wouldn't mine getting them, but if they'll not going to work on my dvds then it's not. has anyone had this problem before?
jeninpa Posted August 17, 2007 Author Posted August 17, 2007 I would think they'd work fine in any DVD player. It would depend more on what was burnt on it and how, whether or not it would work. For example, my DVD player plays Divx where as the $30 DVD player at Walmart does not. Some DVD player do not even play DVD-R's. You have to check your manual.
lisamag Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 my kids both have dvd players that don't play certain ones but i have one in the living room and in my room that play everything dvd,dvd-r's dvd-rw's, all cd's but none of them would play the 8x's and we tried to copy all kinds of things mostly movies and we tried several of the dvd from the packs just to make sure the one wasn't the problem none of them worked. i was told it had something to do with the speed of the dvd's but i don't l know if that was right. sure is a good deal just don't know if they would work on my dvd players.
Ripn Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 Speed kills...even when burning video on dvd.Unless you are in some kind of hurry, there really is no need to burn video above 4X. You can burn a full DVD in under 15 minutes @ 4X...do you really need to save 6 minutes to burn @ 8X?You can use any speed blank and still choose 4X or whatever your burner has for a slow speed.A DVD player may or may not play +r or -r or even +-RW's. Check out your model here...http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers BTW, here's 3 comments on this TDK media with the Ritek R05 code...not so good. http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia/tdk-dvd-r-ritek-r05-16/4352#comments
