I found this out when mine fell in the toilet while traveling back to Ohio for an emergency. I had to have a phone right away and the lady at customer service told me in an indirect way that i could just get one of those to use on the trip. They are way cheaper than the same phone for retail price because they want them to be lower priced so that people will buy them and then have to buy the minutes to use them (unless you have a plan with them).
