I am such a chicken. After all the horror stories, I did not try to use the Choxie coupon at my Target. I did find the ones on Clearance, so I grabbed a couple of those. Other than that, no real good finds.

PS. . .Not an Off Line deal, but I got word of a Target employee site where they vent about us customers, esp the ones that use coupons. Still trying to find the site. I feel kind of bad for them . . . .

Ha...someone's post in there mirrors a specific post in here about calling guest serivces and the 4 coupons for bars, and talking with the manager later on.

Oh brother - I am reading this one, http://www.targetunion.org/node/15972?from=10&comments_per_page=10 and it's ridiculous. I can't believe the target employees don't get in trouble for posting on the targetunion site.

After reading a bunch of their comments and they say "Coupon lady: 0 Target: 1" -- I feel like we, as customers, are battling to save money and get good deals. :(

Interesting conversations over there, yes the 4 coupon/candy bar sounds exactly as the person here was telling. Interesting the clerk even recognized the manager was over the top with yelling at the customer. I am not sure why some of the employees are so upset, if the company didn't set forth more guidelines why should they care. They should of set it up where it was a buy one get one free, at least they would get some cost out of it.

Yep. this does sound sorta like my situation LOL except I wasn't alone....there were two of us. We were together and had a total of 4 coupons (2 each). I asked for a manager but was told he wasn't in the store and got what they called a front end supervisor. Also, number was not programmed into the phone. I had written it down and it was in my car. Person with me went out to get it. Not sure if this is me but I wish she would update it. Senior supervisor at guest relations told me that front end supervisor got a formal written reprimand and it will remain in his file. It is nice to know this worker also thought he went ballistic because of coupons LOL. Very similiar case though.

WOW! I must admit that good customer service is a rarity these days but those posts from the Targer employee board were disturbing. I didn't realize that employees felt like they were in a battle with people who use coupons. I guess I can understand if they truly feel someone is taking advantage of the system but there is just outright hatred for deal finders. I think that I will have a very hard time going back to Target and not feel like the cashiers will have it out for me if I try and use my coupons...... :(

okay, the choxie bar coupons have not interested me thus far, and I have not yet printed out ANY Target coupons. But just for the heck of it (after reading the Target employees gripes), I am gonna print out every one I can find tomorrow and try to redeem every single one. I'm gonna have me some fun ....

To be fair, though, I do think some people do find it a sport to see how much free or nearly-free stuff they can get. Maybe they are reselling or donating, I don't know... but aside from donations or reselling it seems like an unhealthy behavior to me.... I picture overweight Choxie eating folks with bathroom cabinets stocked from top to bottom with shaving creams ....maybe not, but that is the image I conjure.

But some of the vile comments and language over there make me want to be a redeemer,,,,a coupon redeemer, that is.

I know the Target site is for venting, but I just hope they realize that people in almost EVERY profession have to deal with the annoying customer here and there. I am in insurance, so believe me, I have heard everything from 'the insurance company killed my father' to 'insurance is the cause of global warming'. ..... But I value my company and employment enough not to go putting it out there for all to see on a website....

I got over 50 of the choxie bars. Personally, I only like the peanut butter one so only kept a few back for my family. I donated all of them to my children's elementary school for them to sell. They are having a garage/bake/craft sale (all donated items) to buy playground equipment.

Just remember the coupons expired 3/3. I went in to Target tonight and saw the shelves were still empty. Apparently, the cashier was talkative and told me a lady came into the store last night and got over 60 of them. lol. Wonder what shes doing with hers. lol

Amen! I read the posts and was shocked that a corporation would sponsor a site and allow such behavior and language (if they do support the site - I didn't look that close) on it. I take patient complaints and if I had a dollar for everytime I had someone tell me they didn't get the pain meds they wanted in the ED and they are going to sue us, I would be a rich person right now. Anyway, we deal with it - that is what we do. Also, if I ever talked to a patient/visitor/family member the way I have read some of the Target managers, etc. have talked to people I would be sitting at home without a job. We also have a means to post comments, etc. on our System's intranet. I can tell you that the postings are screened and any post with offensive, derrogatory, spiteful language is taken off or not posted at all. There are 2 key things Target is missing PUBLIC and CUSTOMER SERVICE - Hello???? If they don't want to honor the coupons - DON"T ISSUE THEM - it is that simple. Otherwise, put limits on them (if you want to limit) and post policies in the stores - don't make them up as you go. Sorry for venting so long but the more I read the more it irritated me.

Good luck on your coupon venture. I didn't dare try to use anymore after I got publicly embarrassed trying to use them. I am not even certain that I will ever return to that store.

I also hear complaints at work very often. I would not dare yell at anyone. If I did yell at a customer, I feel certain that my job would be gone.

the corporation doesn't support the site. it is a union that created the site in hopes of getting Target employees to unionize - hence the name Target Union. I think the whole idea was to give them a place to get made enough to form a union.

:gdflasher: But those are only some of the employees' feelings, not all!!!! I know that doesn't make it right, but the customers (us) get plenty for our money at Target....it's our gain, either way!!!

It does not matter where I shop at, I expect people to do their jobs, just as people expect me to do mine. That does not mean they will not have an opinion, nor will I. We do not have to agree with them or them with us. Everyone has something or someone they dislike at work.

It is very wrong to have such a public display on the web and I doubt it is approved by Target. But I will not let someone else's bad day ruin my savings!!!! No one should!!!!

On that note, I do have target's number programmed in my phone and if I ever were treated unfairly...I would call in a heartbeat!!!!:gdevillaugh:

As with many such things, it is also important to remember that the people posting are self-selecting, and that they have an axe to grind in the first place. The majority of the general discussion is complaining. There aren't too many people on the site just for the camaraderie or anything. The other major use of their board is to ask the union people questions about HR type problems they have. So when you figure that most of them come to the site with a complaint or problem in the first place, you are mostly going to see that. Plus the active ones tend to run the ones who are happy working there off with all their nasty comments. Think of them more as the bullies, I guess.

I learned a TON about how they operate in terms of their policies by reading the game where they ask each other job-related questions. They specifically discussed what they are allowed to mark down at the register for damage and by how much. That is also where I learned that they aren't supposed to sell floor models of furniture. So, I guess I am saying to take the complaining with a grain of salt.

Okay, we have to give them the benefit of the doubt sometimes and not just judge all the TM's, but did you read this post from http://www.targetunion.org/node/16097 on that site? What does "talk" mean? It sounds like someone beat them up or something.

Fri, 2007-03-02 18:33 F***** - A. I agree. Most coupon users are just fine, average people. This lady was definitely not one of them. Congrats on getting this problem solved though management. We had a related, but much worse problem, at my store. The TMs and TLs were not getting anywhere, and unfortunately, management was not backing them up since management didnt have to deal with it. It ended up that a few of the TMs had a "talk" with the guest off Target property one day. Problem solved.

I started reading this last night and I was shocked. Toebaby, the person that posted what you quoted had a few very odd threads that I found. http://www.targetunion.org/node/16083?from=0&comments_per_page=10 It could be totally bogus, because you would think the guest would have called corportate and sued thier butts. But, if they scared her too badly...

I can't believe that the Target employees feel this way towards couponers. I usually don't have problems with my coupons however, sometimes the cashiers say "where did you get these, I need some of these too!" These employees act like it's their 55 cents we are taking for the coupons. Come on...Target gets paid by the manufacturers for the manufacturer's coupons. Target.com puts out the online coupons for a reason...TO BE USED!!! It does upset me that the employees act like my coupon savings are coming out of their paychecks. I think not!

Every time I go into Target I spend at least $50.00.

I don't see why they would risk losing a customers business over a few $$ coupons.

Doesn't seem like good business sense to me.

I may be way off base here. I worked retail 7 years, cashier and moving up the line slowly! But the way I see it, if I didn't like it, I wouldn't work it! I had my share of crazy customers, and rude people, but really, these people on the target site are nuts! I actually went to target today, didn't find anything on sale, but still felt like a criminal for perimeter perusing! I have to wonder if corporate knows about this site? I would think, this is something they would want to disappear, before the 1000's that read this site, and other sites disappear from thier stores! I realize this is only one in a few from 100's of targets, but I guess I'm glad thier not working at my McDonald's don't even want to think what would happen if they were having a bad day! :yuck:

Since this seems to be such a point of interest, I have created this new thread for discussing the targetunion.org website, separate from the Perimeter Perusing thread. However, please exercise good judgement when posting in here - if it gets out of hand, the thread will be simply deleted and that website blocked from being posted. If you are looking for the new March Perimeter Perusing thread, see here.

These are some of the same feelings I got when reading the Target site. The cashier's could learn a thing or two from the couponers! Since it is NOT coming out of THEIR paychecks, why do they care so much? All they need to do is be VERY clear what their particular store's policies are on ALL types of coupons and then simply follow the rules. They are letting a small thing ruin their day and becoming angry, bitter people. That is sad. Retail jobs are stressful enough without being an angry, bitter person. Geez, maybe they could make it a contest amongst themselves. Who had the thriftiest customer today? How much did they save? Did you ask them for pointers? Come on......make a game out of it and have fun!

I must say, I spent about 30 minutes reading the Target posts and it was rather disturbing. Entertaining, but disturbing.

Not to be ugly......

But I think this is their way to vent. We all have a way to vent. Yes, it is public, but it is their site. We know they have an opinion, just like they know we have one.

I really don't care!!!! If they want to whine and complain about me getting such good deals, oh well, the cashier's job is to take my money, that's ALL. So far I have not had any problems and I don't expect any.

I guess I am trying to say is that I don't care if they want to talk about me as a customer because when you get down to brass tax, customers are the reasons the cashiers have their jobs. They just take our money. I don't know these people on the target forum, so I say let them rant and rave because we still get great savings so matter how much they vent.
