Panda Girl
Just go to walmart and buy an inexpensive one, look for something light, in weight. I work at a Carpet store and we go through vaccum cleaners yearly. Just get a brand name, like dirt devil, Eureka or Hoover. Spend about $50ish. And don't be suckered by all the hoses and "special features" on them. When your ready for something good. Go with an Oreck.

Cannon1
Since it's an office, and if you don't mind the noise. I hate to say this, but, wm has a $20 canister vac. I picked it up just for us to keep our seldom used office area clean/covered my butt for a present. It is very loud though. No bells & whistles. But since a canister, we don't have to be concerned with the right type bag, etc.... Just open & empty. Oh and again, it is realy, realy loud. laffnatu
I bought the $20 WM vac last year also. I like that I only have to empty the canister. My other vac has the hepa filter and I seem to go through them like crazy.. and they aren't cheap. I go through vacs and carpet shampooers so often, I now just find something cheap. lol
