Airfare Deals.. When do they usually start?

This isnt for the holidays.. but I"m needing to purchase 2 tickets to go to INDY in mid April, from DC. Right now the going rate is about $220+/- .

 

I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a usual time that Airlines have a big sale on tickets, or its just hit or miss. I'm thinking they're alittle higher due to the holidays, but could be wrong.

 

Any advice is very appreciated.

Southwest is now booking through May 10th (last time I looked)

 

I'm flying from Ft Lauderdale to Tulsa around May 16th, so I have to wait a little while longer to see what their rates are.

I got some great tickets spiritair.com the other day for 4 people from ATL to Las Vegas for $471 round trip (total for all 4 with all fees and taxes included). They had $8 tickets the other day and then I think another cheaper deal after that. You just have to check the map to see if they fly where you are going.

I think the only place Spirit really goes from my area is the Bahamas, and down that way (not that that wouldn't be nice) I think I checked them when I was booking my sister and brother in law's flights.

yeah< I looked up spirit when they had that sale.. but nothing that I needed.

And not during the times I could go either.
