Dinner party

Me and my Husband have been invited to a dinner party with my sons friends parents. I have met the father breifly. They are new to my area and looking for friends. I am thrilled to be invited. My question is do I bring a gift and food? What's correct? Any and all ideas are welcome. Please help.

I would call and see if they would like you to bring a dish to pass if they say no then I would bring a house warming gift of some kind.

i would get a small meat and cheese appetizer plate and put it on a nice dish that they can keep.just put the plate it comes on on the new plate

I like the wine thing. But how do you know witch kind is good? i like wine but don't really drink it alot.

Call to find out if they need you/like for you to bring anything and again on the day of the dinner if they say no at first. For the gift since they are new I would get a gift card for Lowe's or Home Depot; always can use something from there when you move and put it in a Christmas Card.

I would suggest calling before bringing food to share as well. The hostess might have the evening prepared, but she might not. I agree on the housewarming gift. Since you're not familiar with their tastes, a beautiful poinsettia this time of year would be nice along with a bottle of wine. I wouldn't go overboard.

 

Do you have a winery close by? If one is not close, do you have local wines that are sold at your grocery or liquor stores? It's always nice to share in something local.
