shanni
I have always had prices adjusted at Amazon and never had a problem. I had ordered that mongoose bike that was offered in the Amazon vote, it was 99.00. Well the day after I ordered it it fell to 79.99, so I sent an email to amazon and got this. Thank you for writing to Amazon.com. I apologize for any misunderstanding, and I would like to take a moment to clarify our policy. The discounts we offer on items on our web site do vary from time to time. We regret that we cannot apply our current discounts to orders which have already been shipped. Also, please note that some prices listed on an item's product detail page are offered by Amazon Merchants, or by individual sellers through Amazon Marketplace. Because Amazon.com does not have a price matching policy, we cannot match the price offered by another seller on our web site. Denied me because it already shipped? I have Amazon prime, of course it already shipped, it shipped the day I ordered it!! I called CS and they did go ahead and give me the refund, but I have never been turned down like that before. I was soooo mad
sheli
This is from their Help section Price Matching Amazon.com does not have a price-matching policy at this time. We do, however, consistently work toward maintaining competitive prices on everything we carry. Please note that in some cases our Web site offers lower prices via the used and new offerings available from Amazon Marketplace or Merchant sellers. For more information, please read our Marketplace Help section. I have never seen that before and remember just recently seeing something on their site about matching the price if it falls within 30 days.... did this just change recently? anyone? I am confuesd now!
shanni
Price-matching isnt the same as price adjustment. Price matching would be when you call them and say Best Buy has something adverstised cheaper than you, and then you get it for that price. Price adjustment is when the price goes down right after you buy something, I don't know of any stores that don't do price adjustments.

I was soooo mad I ordered George Foreman indoor/outdoor grill when it went on sale for $64.xx. Then a couple weeks later, for their CyberMonday sales, it went lower to $49.xx. I called CS and they adjusted the price for me without hesitation. (He even asked me how the grill was working. Told him it was for Christmas and hadn't been opened yet.) That's why I always like to talk to a rep instead of trying to do something like this via e-mail.
shanni
I have always done it through email, and I mean alot, I've done price adjustments there over 100 times and have never been denied. At least they corrected over the phone for me, and I love the CALL ME feature on their website.

jenilyn
I know many stores keep track of the number of times any given customer returns things to them. I wonder if retail sites likethis have tried to do something similar? I realize this wasnt a return. No accusations or ill-ment words, just a thought was all.... marigot
Here's the response I got from Amazon when I asked about price adjustments: Q: I was wondering if you offer price adjustments - for example, if I buy something and the price goes down in the next month, would you adjust the price? A: Thanks for writing to Amazon.com. I apologize for any misunderstanding. as you may know, the price and availability of items at Amazon.com are subject to change. Some discounts are particular to the time that an item is a featured selection on our site; these discounts are limited-time offers. As the discount we are able to offer for any item is dependent upon its availability, Amazon.com's price will necessarily change on occasion. We are unable to honor a price that was advertised before you placed your order. Also, there may be times when Amazon.com runs out of stock of an item that is also offered by one of our partner merchants. You may see it displayed on our web site as available, but from a different merchant and with a different price than you saw previously. Our merchants set their own prices. I hope you will be able to take advantage of the many discounts we offer on your next visit to our store. We sincerely appreciate your business, and we look forward to seeing you again. Further, if you see that the price of the item you purchased within 30 days have gone down, we will honor the discount price and issue you a refund only if your order is shipped within 30 days. If you have further questions, please visit our online Help pages Now, I really think my q was pretty straighforward. The answer not so much. I had made no inquiry about out of stock items for example.

I didn't think they'd get back with me that quickly. When the phone rang, I thought it was going to be somebody else. Yay for Amazon getting new technology working so well! I had made no inquiry about out of stock items for example. They finally answered your question at the bottom of their e-mail. They didn't need to send you all that extraneous information. They probably just cut and paste the entire faq policy without really trying to answer you directly.
chwk
I just have to jump in here, I got a claim code to buy the Amazon Prime with the $100 GC. I could'nt get it to work, the email was vague on how to redeem. Anyway I decided I would sign up for the trial prime and purchased a playstation game and perhaps it would appear in my shopping cart, WRONG. Ok so I call CS. yes they call back quickly, but the agent had a very thick accent, I had difficulty understanding her and she I. Anyway she was no help. She took the info and said she would forward to marketing and they would email me. Havent heard a word.... So I just sent them an email... I've shopped with amazon for years, and am very disappointed.
tazolover
I am sorry for the confusion in the beginning, but glad that you were able to get the price adjustment. What is up with Amazon.com? I placed an order for 2 sets fo the $7.99 Farberware skillets, and they sent me 2 separate orders. Only charged once. Not complaining mind you , just wondering what is going on over there!
