fairydustcrissy
OK, my 5 year old has asked Santa for a doll house. Except Santa is having a hard time. The one she originally picked out is the Fisher Price Townhouse. That just seems to me like it's made for younger children, i dunno. I want something she can use for a while, and not feel like a baby. Ideally, I want to keep this around $50-75, of course closer to 50 is better :) I looked at the Cinderella castle, and it just seems like nothing for the price. She has also mentioned the Mickey Mouse clubhouse, but again, i dont want this to be something she will outgrow in a couple of months. Help! shopping mom
Melissa and Doug make a nice wooden one. I had considered this for my DD. It looks very plain, but it is solid wood and would last. I was going to let my DD paint it one piece at a time. She loves to paint and this would make it truely her dollhouse. Firemansgal311
Go for the town house. My dd had it and LOVED it! She also had the dream dollhouse, loving family house and the dream castle...lol;) We had to sell off some before we moved cross country and opted to keep the dream dollhouse and all of the accessories simply because it is what she had the most of. If we had room her I am sure that her house would be out in the open being played with but it is in storage til we buy a house. She is 10. We started buying the houses and accessories for her when she was 3.
mommytwotwins
My neice has the Twin Time doll house and it's realy cute and she plays with it all the time. We have the Cinderella castle and my girls do play with it but don't waste your money! I also have the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse that they will get this xmas so we have not opened it yet but that's not realy a doll house, more like a playset. fairydustcrissy
Thsanks for the advice. So Firemansgal, your DD played with it for a long time huh? I ma just so afraid she will dump it because she is at that age where its hard to get things that arent either too advanced, or too "baby-ish". If that made any sense. Maybe I will go ahead & bite on the FP townhouse...if I can find a deal :)

(oldest was 11, youngest at the time was 2) They have a ton of accesories that will keep her involved with it. Everything from the babies and pets to the cars, and all of the neat furniture and accesories. If you can wait til the fall TRU will do thier annual BOGO sale or you might try ebay for accessories. We had all of the furniture, both vehicles(one was a beetle) friends and neighbors (Hispanic, Asian and AA families I don't know if they still make these) But she loved it, heck.. I loved it! I didn't have a dollhouse growing up and I loved to sit and play with her for hours on end.

The dollhouse i need by Christmas morning, but the oer accessories I'm sure will be bought all year long, lol. Anyone know what the chances are of this going on sale before Christmas? <
irisbee
Tuesday Morning had a cute dollhouse in their ad. Unfortunately, I threw the add away and don't remember any of the details about it (cost, age group, etc.) including when the sale starts. I think 12/5 but I'm not certain. mjzita
I was just looking at the Tuesday morning ad and then came online to do a search for it and came across your message. It is called the Fashion Dollhouse Set and goes on sale for $69.99 on Dec. 4th at 7 am. Description is: "Three-story dollhouse filled with 9 pieces of wooden furniture. Perfectly sized for most 11.5" fashion dolls. Some assembly required. Ages 3 and up." It looks pretty big. In the ad, there is a girl anywhere from 3-5 years old and the doll house is taller than her. The furniture in the picture has a bed, couch, piano & bench, bathtub, table, & two stools.I plan to buy this for my 3-year-old daughter who also asked Santa for a dollhouse. I have searched the internet for a decent one that doesn't use up the entire Christmas budget and couldn't find anything until I came across the sales ad from Tuesday Morning. I also want to get my girl a dollhouse that will last her for years to come, rather than get her a toddler one with plastic people, etc. This one she can hopefully use until she gets too old for dolls! I can only hope. Hope this helps! Happy Holidays...
