Correct, I just tried it again and it works.

$585 + $50 upgrade = $635

i just called customer service, was on phone for abour 20 minutes. I said that 'i was told this came with a free printer, can you help?" She kinda balked at the request at first, and was reluctant to just do it for no reason. I said that a friend of mine ordered the same thing, and was originally told that this came with the free printer, but he had to call back to have it added on, and I'm doing the same transaction. She said ok, put e on hold, came back, and said she's shipping the free printer! I really don't need it per se, but it will make a great xmas gift.

just got off the fone w/ dell csr (a polite indian gentleman named max) and told him i was "promised" a free dell printer w/ my purchase by a sales rep...told me he'd check on it, said there wasnt any promotional printers in my order but he'd gladly include one as soon as he gets the nod from a supervisor...so a few polite thank you's later i got my free printer! thanks guys, this forum has been [email protected]

Dell wouldn't give me a free printer, but my order did ship today! It will hopefully arrive tomorrow according to UPS' estimate.

Same here for me Santa. My friend was looking at the laptop online. Arent we suppose to be able to hook this up to our tvs since it media center edition? According to him he couldnt see any S-Video on it. Anyone else get one yet that can clarify?

It seems as though your friend is correct . From looking at a 3D rotational view of the notebook on Dell's website, there are no S-Video ports, though the graphics chipset supports it. These aren't meant to be media center notebooks, though it does seem Dell is trying to tease people into thinking they are. I think Dell opted to remove s-video from this model as well as get rid of the media center buttons on the front to make people buy the next model up.

That's crazy, my friend said Dell is doing their best to get anyone and everyone to buy all that they have due to their recent failures in the customer service market. I also noticed my arrival date got changed to the 30th. Is there anyway then to hook this up so that I can take advantage of the media addition?

Ok, I got in on this one for my daughter too. Now I have a question. What would be the best low cost router for this system? Current system specs: Road Runner Cable Internet Phone Service from AT&T Computer is running Windows XP (system ~1.5 years old) Looking for any input. The extra space is being used for the recovery partition. Instead of sending out OS cds for reinstall, they put it all on the drive.

I got mine yesterday and am pleased with it so far. The truelife display is just amazing! There is no comparison to it versus a regular LCD. The only complaint I have so far is the right mouse button tends to squeak occasionally.

I got a recovery CD. So I imagine if I format it I should gain some space back. Sleepy, I couldn't agree with you more on the display. It's really nice. I like the battery power also.

I never did get mine. I contacted Dell and they told me that it is lost. They said that I would have to reorder. I guess I will have to make a phone call and see what I can get done.

I've been watching this same computer for weeks on the price. In the past 2 weeks it had gone up $50 each week. Today I tried to configue a system and it was $750. (Way too much to pay for a 9 year old). I started searching again and Walmart has an ACER brand computer that is very similar to this 1501 for $528 (online only). However, I'm partial to the Dell b/c we have 1 and like it. Anyway,,,, try this... instead of going to Dell then Home Home Office... go to small business... they have the SAME computer for $534. -- it is$649 on the Dell home site. With tax and FREE SHIPPING,,, I only spent $566 and was getting ready to dump $700 on the same computer just hours ago.

I am still fighting with Dell right now about the 1st system I had ordered for $635 + tax with dual core which was lost and this offer for $640 without a DVD burner. I think they are about to let me have the 1st system again.
