Inspiron 1501 laptop for $585

The Dell 1501 using this code 08878-DNPSHX1 has dropped from $635 to $585 with these compents. The AMD Turion™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-50 can be added for $50 more. The $585 sounds like a better deal than the one Dell has on for $499. It is just $85 more for a better computer.

AMD Turion™ 64 Mobile Technology MK-36
Genuine Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005
Express Upgrade to Windows Vista Home Premium from XP Media Center Edition
15.4 inch Wide Screen XGA Display with TrueLife™
1GB DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz, 2 Dimm
80GB Hard Drive
8X CD/DVD Burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer DVD+R write capability
ATI RADEON® Xpress1150 256MB HyperMemory™ (Integrated)
53 WHr 6-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery
Dell Wireless 1390 802.11g Mini Card (54Mbps)

I am leaning toward this computer since the price drop. The E1505 would cost me $719 looks like it went up. I don't need anything fancy but I do not want just a basic laptop and I will not be going out on BF.

Is this deal dead? I configured this to my liking, but when I added it to the cart, it was back to regular price. Anyone know?

Must be. I entered the code yesterday and added it to my cart and it could be bought for $635 for AMD 64. I guess the deal is dead.

I just entered it into my cart and the discount is there so I think it can be bought for the cheaper price.

I have been trying to buy this with the discount, but every time I go to check out, it goes back to regular price. Oh well, hopefully they'll have some good deals tomorrow or Friday...

I did a chat online and they said it could still be bought for that price , he said he could have somebody call me to guarantee that price.

I just ordered this one for $635+tax with dual core and express upgrade to VISTA with and estimated ship date of 12/4 which is fine because my wife is not going to know about this until Christmas morning.

Does upgrading to VISTA include MS Word, Excel, etc? Or would you still need to upgrade after that? My desktop has a pirated copy (didn't know that until recently!) on it so I can't install it on a new computer.

That would be extra.

I think it is a good deal for me anyway. I just did not want the one for $499 even though it probably would do all I will ever do with a laptop since I already have a Dell desktop bought this year. I just wanted one to take on trips(which is every once in a blue moon) and to get on the internet without having to sit at the desktop. I will also use it to show pictures of our little 20 month old girl to family.

No it doesn't because MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint are all part of MS Office which always costs more.

Windows Vista is the new operating system which will eventually replace Windows XP.

Okay, here's the deal. This is still a valid code, but there is an error on the website. The Dell chat person is going to have someone call me to place the order over the phone with the correct price. If this works I'll post again to let everyone know. You should still be able to get this computer for the $585.

WOW Thanks so much for letting us know!! I was so upset today when I woke up and this deal wasn't valid. This is I think an unbelivable deal.

hey, I'm for sure upgrading $50 to dual core, but are you guys upgrading to 120 HD? Is it worth it for that price? Don't know if I'll need that much, or if I'm just trying to pimp it out now. Thanks!

I didn't because I already have a Dell desktop E510 with a 250gb drive. I just don't see where I would need a 120 on a laptop.I also have a 4 year old compaq desktop with a 80gb and still have 60 left.

ok, sorry for the blah blah blah, but just tryign to make sure I do this right. Last question, I notice that the DELL has a 256mb video card. Is this right? If so that's pretty huge isn't it? I mean doesn't that beat out most of these 128 shared cards? I mean, this 256 card not only is 256, but it's not even shared, right?

For a little more money I would buy the Gateway as it has the Intel Core Duo, 1GB RAM, 100GB Hard Drive, WiFi, FireWire pretty much loaded.
