this is going to be my first semi-pro camera. it will be very usefull for college the next 3 years. i dont have any experience on adjustable lens' but i think i can pick it up well. the one that comes in the kit looks like a good beginer one, but ive heard a few other people suggest a static/single zoom lens. whats your opinion on the matter?
I'm no pro either, sorry if I gave that impression

I asked for advice left and right and I was told that if I can't aford a good lens (like this one) it might be wiser (and cheaper) to stick with the kit one. My other (fairly amateurish) ideea was to get the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II and I was told that the kit lens allows me to play and learn more. Apparently, even if it's not a top of the line lens it's considered decent.
@JCz7383 - I know your advice was for sniperomega, but still, to explain myself: I fell inlove with the XTi. I got to have it, and there's no other one for me.

I went to Best Buy, CC and Cord Camera asking for opinions on a 6mp digital camera, from the Casio, Sony, and Canon and all recommend the Canon SD600. So that's what I'm trying to get! They said the Canon has better picture quality but they all are good cameras. HTH!

Stay away from the Kodak, the Canon is the failsafe choice.

Is this the same camera that will be sold as a bundle at Walmart on BF? The Kodak c633?
Not sure if anyone replied to this, but yes it is.

I also ordered my Cannon SD600 online from CC and BF price! I don't have to get up and go wait in line tomorrow! Yippppeeeeeeeeee!
Oh yeah? How did you do that? The website says "This item is only available for purchase in stores" .
It is NOT avaliable for online ordering. So, once again, how did you order this?

I will be buying the Canon SD600. BTW, the price of the SD600 is only for the in store price. It is the only one that isn't avaliable online! Bummer!
I have found it for $219.00 at Costco online (the board won't let me post the link because I don't have enough points! BS)
As for the other manufacturers, they are a step below Canon, according to all that I have read. Canons optics are superior.
If anyone knows of a cheaper one, please let me know.
Thanks.

Well, I got mine online! I got it for the advertised $199 price too! I just walked in around noon today, walked past all the lines to customer service, and picked up this awesome camera!

Congrats! Wish the would have left it avaliable for online ordering, but by the time I saw it, it wasn't. Oh well.
