My ten yr old wants a mp3 player. What about the one in the TRU ad for $29.99. Is it a good one or do you think there will be a better deal. I don't want to spend too much more than that cause she is already getting a nintendo ds lite.

I bought a refurbished ipod shuffle for my younger cousin, 8 yrs old, at the apple store online for $29 plus $4 shipping. My cousin specified the ipod - because it's "cool" ;) There's a whole discussion on these in the online deals forum area.

I got the shuffle for my daaughter too! She is 10 and she's getting BIG gift that more expensive, so this is perfect price. Better than buying a portable CD player and cool too!

Keep an eye out for Creative Labs Zen Nano Plus. 1 gig ,not much bigger than a Bic lighter, comes with belt clip, armband etc. Bought 1, now have 2 more for wife and kid. Anywhere from 39-80 dollars.

Ace Hardware and Kmart seem to have decent sale on MP3 players, I want one but not willing to shed alot for them, not even sure how to use them lol.. the concept of them is good.

Check the Apple website daily for the refurbished Ipods. I bought my 7y/o dd the $29 shuffle also. Great price and it comes with their 1 year warranty. They come and go daily. They have free shipping over $50 too.

Zune anybody?

I played with this tonight at Target! I want to buy a video Ipod but then I saw this and I'm torn. The Zune has a radio and a larger screen that can be viewed in Landscape or Portrait. It's the same price as the Apple 30gb ipod. It seems so cool but I'm worried of any kinks it may have since it's a brand new system. I'm curious to know everyone else's take on it.

I'm torn betwwen these three. Zune, I played with at Target tonight and I loved it! Howvever, it's so new and I'm worried about any possible problems with it. Reading the boards, I learned about The Vision M. I feel more confident with this one since it's been out for a while. Can I use it with Itunes? I ask because I already have Itunes since I have a Ipod mini and just bought my dd a refurb Shuffle for Xmas. I was initially thinking of The Ipod Video since I'm so used to Ipod but now I'm not so sure. I love that these other two players have a FM tuner, recorder, etc and all for the same price! I wish I had a comparison list with reviews.

iTunes is specially for the iPod. If you want to save money, go with the Zen. Since, you already have an iPod. Save your money because better players will come out.

I just got back from buying the 30gb Zen video at Circuit City for $200. Pretty good deal, I haven't opened it yet, but the display model at the store was awesome. I would recommend the Zen because it's cheaper and has a pretty good display.

The Zen has better sound quality and is cheaper. The Ipod is easier to navigate. I have a Zen M. Love it !! Don't know about Zune. Good luck.

The zen is a little thicker than the iPod, but the same size lengthwise. IMO, the creative zen beats the ipod in many catagories, and is a better value. Of course, I've never owned an ipod before.

I have Itunes on my computer. Can I use this with the Zen or drag it into something else to get on the Zen? Also how would I download videos/movies/shows onto the Zen if I cannot use Itunes. Obviously it's what I'm used to and I am not familiar with other applications. The Zen is a little cheaper on CC right now, so I want to get it but want to be sure I can put my fave tv shows/ movies on there without a problem. Thank you for your patience with me.:o

I have the Zen Vision M. I love it. I put so many videos on there. It can handle many video formats. Plus it has the radio, voice recorder, and I can use it as a data storage. Also, I heard that Target is going to give a $25 GC when you buy the Zune. I dont know if that applies everywhere and when it ends, but...good luck on making your decision. :)

Personally I'm gonna get the Zune on BF at CC with my $200 from the Vonage deal. I dunno I just really like the Zune with how you can switch from landscape to portrait view. Microsoft has said that there will be firmware upgrades too. All in all it looks like the way to go.

dapreview.com has a few links to various reviews. There's a nice one on the engadet blog with pretty pictures. We got the display boxes for these at TRU today. I was very tempted to get one after setting up our display. I love how the black one has a hint of blue and the brown, a hint of green. Alas, I'll have no $$$ to spend after I get the PS3 this Friday. It's nice to dream though...

I've been on the lookout for an MP3 player for a while now.. Would love to have one for the gym.. I've decided I'll be using Best Buy Bucks ($200 worth) and buying the 4gb iPod Nano (blue!) on BF, so in the end It'll probably cost me just a few bucks worth of tax, and I'll get a $25 gift card, so I might even make money off the deal :)

See this is exactly what I don't get, all that money for only 4gb it just doesn't make sense.
